| Wath Brow Hornets 24 v 10 Leigh Miners
Leigh Miners poor record at Wath Brow continues after going down 24-10 yesterday afternoon at Red Beck Road. It looked like Miners would cruise to victory after dominating the opening twenty five minutes, going forward strongly and dominating Brow in defence, Miners were in control scoring two well worked tries down the right from wing and centre pairing Darryl Flannery and Martin Grey, Tom Bradbury landing one of two touchline conversions to give the score 10-0 to the visitors. From the kick off from the second try Miners overplayed and lost the ball in their own twenty and from the next set the home side took full advantage scoring in the left corner to give the score 10-4. Wath Brow seemed to lift from the try and pulled them self’s level a few minutes later with a try under the posts to tie the game up at 10-10. Hornets took the lead right on half time after Miners give away a needless penalty in front of the posts, Brow’s winger easily kicking the penalty goal to send them into the half time break full of confidence leading the game 12-10.
The second half was a tight affair with both teams working hard looking to take control of the game, the home side having the better of the field position and looking more threatening as the game wore on, however Miners dug deep and they thought they had snatched the lead back during the final quarter only to have the try ruled out for a forward pass. A few sets later Brow opened up an eight point lead scoring out on the left after a nice cross field kick, A Fourth try was scored late on as Wath Brow wrapped up a hard fought 24-10 victory.
