Now that SIR Billy Boston has set the precedent by being the first ever Rugby League knight after 130 years, surely the time has come for a SIR Neil Fox and SIR Kevin Sinfield.

I'm chuffed to bits that Billy Boston has finally been awarded his knighthood,As it is long overdue


How Neil Fox has not been awarded a knighthood is ridiculous, as his 6,220 points will never ever be beaten,and even by todays scoring process too.
I have met Neil on numerous occasions throughout my lifetime and I cannot speak highly enough of him

I know him well and have nothing but praise for him, but I think there is a bit of an emotional reaction to this.


He got an MBE for his sporting achievements which are well deserved.
He hasn't really done more than that after retirement that ticks the honours boxes, so the justification is simply the original award wasn't big enough.
Which I'm not against at all, but many shouting for it don't understand the process.


It's worth saying that some think RL is hard done to, but there are only 4 Rugby Union players/coaches that have been knighted - Gareth Edwards, Bill Beaumont, Clive Woodward and Ian McGeekan.

Union have way more honours than we do. But a Knighthood is the top. 
We could do with proposing a few OBEs and CBEs first.

I'd happily back a campaign for someone at the RFL to start writing honours list request for all those League players of the past who deserve something.


Sinfield however, in my opinion deserves a Knighthood. What he has done far transcends sport.

Our own RL community didn't  recognise him with the Wembley statues, so what chance with people outside the game.

I believe that part of the reasons for BB's honour was that he was a pioneer and paved the way  for players "of colour" to make their mark in our great game.
