I'd imagine his stats improving some next season too. Certainly bodes well for us anyway.

| I think it obvious that him and smith partnership wasnt that good on the field but chase and theo have worked brilliantly together and theo evalds and locke are starting to understand his game. If we win our last 3 games then it will be the most points salford have ever got in the super league so it wont be a bad season for me and you can say chase was part of it

I'm hoping that bringing Dobson in doesn't set the dynamic back to where it was at the start of the season. Theo and Chase are making very good partners at the moment, with neither having their games overrun by the other. In fact, I'd say that both players have been playing their best stuff for us over the last month or so. I suppose it depends on where Harris wants to fit Theo into things. Presumably as a rotational hooker/Halfback and/or cover. Where I think he could do a really good job for us. Distribution is quick and crisp, he's quick, and has an eye for the line. It's a nice dilemma to have and I suppose the beauty of it is that if Dobson and chase don't click he's got a ready made plan B which is tried and tested.
A lot of opposition fans seem to think of Chase in his Cas phase where everything went through him and his job was to make everything happen. Since he's been at Salford it's been plainly clear that his game has changed to play a more structured style but with the option to take things into his own hands. It's taken him a while to get the balance right, but in the second half of this season he's really nailed it, which is why we're seeing Theo flourish as his partner. Something that every man and his dog said couldn't possibly happen because 'Chase does what he wants'. Hopefully they'll keep thinking that way as it's to our advantage. Personally, it's been great to watch a more controlled and mature Chase without him sacrificing what makes him unique.
Long may it continue.

Not quite. That will take us to 25. We finished on 26 in 2006 - though there was one more league game that season.

| Anyone else sick of hearing "Castleford were better without him this season" whenever Chase is mentioned? It's a somewhat unfair conclusion, had Chase still been at Cas do people really think they wouldn't be where they are now? Powell has done a great job, but only came on board half way into their season last year therefore the comparison is non existent.

| Not really ... Cas have been better this season and have been without him.
I think they'd be even better this season with him if he had stayed.
No offence to their half-backs.
We've been better this season without Lee Jewitt but I think we would have been better had we kept him. So what? We'll never know.

| Statistically he's been in around d the top for 5/6 years. He is a class player and now he can link up with Dobson and Locke I think he will become more clinical.
People are quick to say cas have been better without chase this year but Powell started making big improvements at cas last season and chase was very much a focal point in that.

In fairness halfbacks are usually always outshone playing behind a well beaten pack. Our forwards were very poor today right from the off. I just can't understand this new bunch, every time you think they have turned the corner they put in a really disappointing display.
Where are we going as a team? I'm not sure and the jury is still out on the head coaching capabilities of Harris for me. Perhaps he needs more time? I'm prepared to give him 6 games from the start of next year at most. Although knowing the Doc he will probably be gone by Tuesday.
I think the silence so far on this forum after such a disappointing result speaks volumes!!

In fairness it was quite an even opening but 3 pieces of class from Tim Smith led to 3 tries which we never looked back from...
A great short ball to Washbrook to put him through who in turn fed Raleigh who finished off for the opening try....a sublime kick (on the 2nd tackle) which put Washbrook over....and then a superb reverse pass which sent Scott Anderson racing through which then led to the field position for Chris Riley to finish from a great kick from McShane......the kick out on the full apart....Smith was superb....totally run the show while Godinet just sneaked M.O.M with his own excellent performance.....hard to believe it's the first time they've played together in the halves!
Don't know what it was with Smith and you guys? Maybe Chase was the problem?
The reason I say that is Smith has played with 3 different partners already for us and has been his excellent self in the majority of games he's played....
Really tough one to understand? All the best though for the rest of the season and next....I've a feeling you will do a bit better next term as your signings definitely look better!

The issue with Chase is not what we were like with him in the side but what sort of team we were without him. With Rangi, the onus was firmly on him and if he failed, the side failed.
When he didn't play we struggled for direction and for someone to control the game. Losing him has improved us because it's enabled us to build a shared responsibility across the team and more people having to up their game.
If we took him back, I just don't think he'd fit back into our structure. We'd have to change it all again to work around Rangi.
