Stuart Reardon, 27, had admitted assaulting his estranged wife Kay after finding out she was seeing another man.



He was given a 12-week suspended sentence at Bradford Magistrates' Court.



His fellow rugby star Leon Pryce, also 27, was ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work.



He had pleaded guilty to assaulting Mrs Reardon's new partner in the same incident.

So Leon gets away with it again, he must feel immune to the law by now.

Given that the judge had previously said he was minded to go with a custodial sentence, an order of community service does appear to be "getting away" with it somewhat, especially taking into account Leon is not a man with an unblemised character.



However, having not been in court for one second of the trial I don't think it's right to start spouting off about the sentence, I'm sure the judge took all factors into account before handing down his decision.



One final thought - given that HKR suspended Cockayne until he's completed his sentence, does anybody think Saints will do the same?

I agree by the way. Whether they should or not is another matter, and one for Saints alone to decide, but in my opinion it will look somewhat bad if they don't, coming so soon after what HKR did.

By pleading guilty, Pryce admitted that he was not acting in lawful self-defence. On the sentence, not going to criticise the judge without knowing anything about the specific case.

I hate Leon and would loved to have seen him sent down, but what he did didnt deserve a prison sentence. End of the day he only pushed the bloke. The judge got it right IMO.
