i think wigan should bring back win bonuses as then they might earn their money instead of just turning up knowing they are still going to get paid

win bonuses are allowed under the salary cap ... and if the salary is above 15K a year, it's assumed for cap purposes that each player will play in 14 winning matches ...



so if you expect to win more than 14 then it's a good way of using salary cap space ... not much use for us at the moment ...

Win bonus's is why we got in 2million quids worth of debt in the Robinson era and had to flog 'Central Park' (does the sign of the cross).

Don't go confusing the issue with facts - especially when a Wiganer is on a salary cap rant.

Clubs are awarded prize money according to were they finish in the league and how well they do in the cup.



Prize money given to the players doesnt count on the cap.

I know a bloke who is a sort of accountant whizz kid who has an interest with Wigan RL, after so many years you can access companies or clubs financial records and he did this and we were paying out so much for win bonus'.

In the late 80s Wigan were budgeting on winning at Wembley ever year, when that stopped we were always up sh[ii[/ite creek without a paddle. Any book keeper with an AAT qualification would tell you what would happen, but we still did it. That is the main reason we got into the mess we did. While the stand was a contributing factor it was built on the ego of board members who stupidly thought we'd never stop winning.
