It's called a transfer fee, coupled with a big chunk of salary potentially being taken off their hands.

Quote ="Istilldontbelieveit"Now first of all I want to point out that this is not an 'I told you so' thread! But having just spent an hour with a good mate of mine who is as Wigan as they come, the question of Martin Gleeson came up. Ofcourse on Saturday I was a nervous wreck and had put away a few beers but I honestly don't remember him touching the ball. Come to think of it, has he had much of an influence at all since you took him from us earlier in the season?
We all know his qualities, but his 'big-game' attitude seems to be non-existent at the moment.
Thoughts....'"
In all honesty i think Gleeson will continue to prove to be a poor signing. He has lost a lot of pace in the last four years or so which was particularly evident against Bradford a few weeks back, he was easily tracked back by some of the opposition forwards let alone backs.
Good business by St.Helens and Warrington.

| Defensively I though he added a lot when he came, offensively he's not been to good, now that could be down to a couple of things first his partnership with Roberts doesn't seem to be there yet and secondly he doesn't really get that much ball down his side, most things go through Carmont, plus are crap go forward doesn't really help any of are backs.

| I think plenty of people get confused about the talents of Martin Gleeson.
He is a fantastic talent when he is given good ball in an inch of space. He generally doesn't create something from nothing, and is similar to Gidley in that his good plays usually come off the back of the team being on a roll.
At Warrington he got a lot of good ball from Briers, whereas at Wigan I just don't think they have quite worked out exactly how to use him just yet, but make no mistake about it, when they do, he will be a good signing.
He used to get stick at Warrington for performances when we were on the back foot, yet he is limited to what he can actually do without field position and good ball.
