Getting away from Refs for a bit, I really hope Widnes don’t go down the path of Leigh! Latest news re players not being paid, having to change the rules to allow loan players to fulfill the fixture this weekend is stark contrast to the money being spent in Toronto.

Hate to see clubs in turmoil like this.

The money being spent in Toronto is entirely from the bank account of David Argyle.



The fact that heartland clubs - after 120 years - cannot field a full 17 or pay their players properly is not connected to Toronto. Just like it wasn't connected to London when we used to get blamed by the flat cappers. Same with Catalan. And Toulouse.

I never said it was connected, and am fully aware of where the money is coming from, I was not suggesting anything else. Merely commenting on the contrast, that Toronto have that sort of backer able to pump money into them, where as some clubs can’t or won’t pay there wages.

Looking like Leigh situation is even worse, wonder what the odds on are the game will get abandoned when they get another injury, the talk is of only being able to field 9 players!!

Can't post links off my phone but you mention having to change the rules re players in your first post and then reference talk of fielding only nine players. Leigh statement last night advised of loan players, are you aware of anything that's changed in between.



Leigh also had big money man (as do we) and look what happened to them when the money ran out.

They released a very pointed statement today in reply to the RFL

Apparently spoken to RR in a plea to find common some common sense as there is a genuine concern for player safety along with potential for a hostile situation being created should further injuries occur during the game to cause it to be abandoned!.

There is no mention in latest Leigh statement suggesting they have secured any loan players.

Can they pay loan players?

Two statements dated 3 October, first one stating their plight, second one stating RFL and clubs have agreed dispensation and naming 6 players sent to them on loan.

Leigh Centurions turmoil is of the clubs own making. I expect them to go into bust in the closed season.

The administration of Leigh has been a disgrace. Mr Beaumont has a lot of questions to answer and for me he should be banned from the game.

The RFL bent over backwards to get them into Super League, oh how they have repaid them for their efforts.

The only people that I have any sympathy with are the fans, who have been badly let down.

The financial plight of Leigh is there own undoing, can’t disagree with that, although think it highlights the fragility of the game as a whole.

Fev only named 15 players in a recent game. These are not small clubs! It’s a worry
