How are more people not totally furious about the conflict of interest Super League has created vis a vis the Hull KR vs Widnes match? The entire sport should be up in arms about how manifestly wrong this is, rather than letting is slide.



Effectively, Super League is paying Widnes a quarter of a million pounds to forfeit this game, which undermines Toronto's achievement in the Qualifiers, and to a lesser extent, London's.



Their official statement in response to this injustice can be summarised as: (i) this is a highly unusual situation; and (ii) clubs play with integrity, as confirmed by Widnes in a recent statement; (iii) we're getting rid of it anyway.



What business school did the cretins that run our governing bodies go to? (i) Their argument that this is 'unusual' is totally absurd, the very concept of the qualifiers is that four teams could go down, and four could go up so surely the parachute amount should have been clarified up front. A credible organisation would have planned for EVERY EVENTUALITY, and the whole competition is predicated on the notion that more than 1 may go down. It shows you how totally inept these 'businessmen' are and why the whole sport is in the doldrums; (ii) and you're relying on Widnes officially saying they'll act in good faith when 250k is on the line? This is total BS. (iii) notwithstanding this is the last year of this arrangement, up until the current competition is over you do your best not to undermine it.



This is amateur hour to say the very least and in any other business context Super League would be laughed out of the boardroom. Let's get some able people involved with this sport because they are going to continue to ruin it if things like this keep happening.
