Could anyone say what the actual point of this dual-code game is ?
There was a cross-code game in the 90's between Wigan - Bath which only benefited union.
Since RU went professional, and before, every contact between league and union has led to more and more aspects of our game being absorbed by union, including some of our best players.
Ten years ago, watching a SL game on Sky, then flicking over to an international union game on BBC, it was like watching an old movie, the contrast was so stark. Nowadays, until you see a throw-in or scrum it is fairly difficult to see the difference.
With all the money union has and the world coverage, I fear more interchange will inevitably lead to the full swallowing-up of league.
What is the ultimate point of this Hetherington move ? It could lead to the demise of league but I suppose he isn't too bothered by that, he would still be involved in an even more lucrative sport.
Should interaction be encouraged and welcomed or should our game draw up the drawbridges ?
Thoughts ?

| There is absolutely nothing to gain from this. Leeds must be making big money to get involved. Don't even touch the bargepole.

| Seems a bit strange this one...they were talking something like playing league rules in your own half & union rules in your opponents half, or something equally confusing. I am sure the main benefactor in the long run will be union.

Leeds have stated that any money made from the game would be going to charity, so it's not that. I don't want it to happen either though.

| Cant understand the rationale behind it. It's random fun at best. I'd watch out of curiosity, and in the hope that Leeds spank the Union side, but not for any other reason.

| a hybrid game is not my sport. We as the better code should mock the idea.
unfortunately its a rare time we'd get some mainstream coverage so it's probably got some mileage.......

| With the game already reeling from the departures of Joel Tomkins and Kyle Eastmond to union this could kill it off?
I wonder how many league fans would still show an interest in Super League if exciting alternatives like this were shown instead?
Would Warrington be able to get crowds if for instance Sale Sharks were offering hybrid games? The club must be worried. If I was Simon Moran I'd sell now while he can get his money out, and get into the hybrid sport.

If London Broncos went 'hybrid' them presumably fans wouldn't have to pay the congestion charge to go and watch them. Might be the solution to their poor crowds.
