With some of the averageness personified currently plying their trade at HB, including the current hugely overrated England scrum half, I too am amazed Gaskell is in the Championship. He was average at Salford but showed more than enough at Saints previously to show he had class. He is more in the classic stand off mould, like Kevin Brown, than the current craze of 6 & 7 being indistinguishable.

I'd imagine several of our top players will have a SL release clause to become active at the end of the season should we not secure promotion.

I would think if we don't go up this season that the likes of sidlow clough and gaskell would want another crack at super league but only if the offer was right

I reckon there will be a number of SL release clauses at any time or non promotion release clause. I really hope not though.

We are talking about "if we don't go up". We have a number of players on a one year deal. SL clubs start signing players from the summer onwards. We may find ourselves starting the playoffs with a hand full of players already signed for a SL club but without it being known.

My fear is that we may lose GOB, Gaskell, Sidlow, Lauaki, Addey and a many more if they all do really well this year and shine. After all, Green has consistently said we have a SL squad here. If you tell everyone you have quality goods then people will look in the shop window.

It is simple to me. We must go up this year and Green and Jimmy have to keep talking to our top players and persuade them not to be tempted by other clubs in July if they come calling - or at least do a deal to leave if we don't get promoted but stay if we do.
