Ganson, as referee, is permitted to ask the video ref for clarification on an incident. That was either already in place or brought in after the MM1 incident. What shouldn't happen either then or now is the video ref interjecting without being asked to do so by the match official.

Hopefully I've covered that above. The referee makes the call and is the one to ask for assistance if he sees fit. Not someone else bellowing in his ear when not asked to do so.

Maybe so but then he should have dealt with Newton first before allowing the kick to take place, while ensuring Leeds weren't also infringing.
A pity Klein decided not to bellow in Ganson's ear at that point to keep his illegal intervention's balanced.
