The club are pleased to announce the signing of 19 year-old Jamie Crowther who has been recommended to the club by York's James Ford who is one of his tutors at Wakefield College.
The Dewsbury based centre is currently studying a Sports Performance and Excellence diploma at the college. He has represented Wakefield College at rugby league and has also played for Shaw Cross and more notably England Colleges.
Crowther scored a braced of tries for his college this week in an impressive 28 - 12 victory against Leeds City College and also scored a try in this year's Yorkshire Carnegie Champion College final when his Wakefield team triumphed against Hull College 40 - 28 back in March.
Crowther said: "I'd like to thank the Dons for giving me the opportunity to play at this level and I hope I can push for a regular place in the seventeen.
"I'm really looking forward to playing in a very competitive league and believe it will bring out the best in me."
The Dons head coach Tony Miller commented: "At 6' 2" Jamie's a big, athletic lad with bags of pace and certainly knows where the try line is.
"He's an exciting prospect for us and I'm sure he will provide welcome competition in the back line.
"I have a good relationship with the college and would like to thank them and James Ford for their co-operation on the matter."
