| Hi Mick, Welcome to the forum. I think what we will have next year will be a youngish squad but a very fit team. I'm confident some additional quality will be added over the next few weeks.

Hello mate i feel the same as you in opinion.Reading what Paul Cullen said in the Weekly news is worrying. But with £1.5 million to spend i can not understand why no more are signed.Hopefully mind games and after September the 1st more signings.Surprised not gone for Jon Clarke at Wire.Need an experienced hooker,standoff/scrumhalf,centre,prop and another looseforward in my opinion.I see Ade Gardner available and maybe try Coley out of retirement for a season.Eamon o Caroll from Wigan is available and i am sure we can try harder. How about the best in the Championship available such as Ridyard,Smeaton,Hepworth, and if desperate for a halfback liam Finn?Goulden,Taylor i think other good players from Leigh.Even poorer teams like York may have a good player.Anyway how about Mullaly bringing an oz over to the uk.

Senior could still do a job no doubt but wouldn't be offering more than a one year deal and he seem's to want two years.
Tadulala, is that a joke? Yes was good about 3/4 years a go but well past it now, plus they had him signed up this year too now anyway so not 'missed out'.
Lauatiti was a great player but now on a rather quickish decline and would look worse in a worse side and again unlikely we'd offer as long a deal.
Waky are doing the opposite of us and have basically gone out and threw big, long deals at anyone available before they'd even started interviewing coaches! One problem we have had is that a few targets like Flanner & Brent Webb have been subject to their current sides suddenly deciding they still rearly need them and throwing down contracts to match and when your at Saints / Leeds you aint gonna step down just for the sake of it!

| An added problem is we are not the only club recruiting now big time. Wakefield weren't expecting to stay up so (as mentioned) are basically throwing contracts at anyone available and also Quins (i'd like to say surprisingly) have found a new chequ book and are spending big on a bit of a re shape. So we have 3 sides fighting over players whereas the likes of Hull have signed a new 7, 9 & 1 from overseas and Catalan have made two very good signings from current SL clubs too.
I think sometimes we are a bit naive in the thinking that every OOC player us as fans fancy seeing at the Stobart have actually benn approached or have any interest in actually joining us in the first place. It wouldn't suprise me if a few agents (Webb in particular) has played us along a bit acting like their clients are happy to join and then as soon as the current club gets worried and matches what's on offer they have signed a new deal leaving us on the look out again!

| You cannot underestimate the following:
The lack of quality players out of contract
The lack of quality players willing to sign for a club that is likely to be slugging it out at the bottom of SL

Mate i think this shows that scouting the best youngsters and a good academy is important. We should look at the youth in North Wales and we have signed a good one in Llyod White. Tom Gilmore,Owens, and Craven will be in the first team over the next two years.

| I am still convinced that PC went Aus for a reason.
First time to sound out the agents & set up the Mull out there, second time to sign players that have not been announced yet.
SOC is a shrewd business man & everythig he has done for our club since we missed out on SL first time has bore fruitition.
His aim to get us in SL achieved, he has publicly stated he now wants the club to be self sustaining ie stronghold announcement.
Stronghold new to RL, plastic pitch new to RL, which will save us money, fixtures played on a weekend not midweek, no extra training facility, it will also make us money as it can be used by other teams & stage other events.
The guy is innovative & thinks outside the box.
IMO I think he is probably disappointed with the stronghold take up, but there is part of me that thinks it was designed this way.
Offer an initial discount to get half of the total number signed up say 4k. Then sign a few SL players to get another 1k signed up at full price. Afterwards (Sep 1st) sign 3 more of better quality to bring in another 1k. Then late Sep early Oct announce 3 top class Aussies brings in another 1k with 1k getting stronghold as xmas presents.
As stated above SOC is shrewd, if you were he would you not use the signing to maximise the stronghold membership?
IMO we are going to see 6 top class signings in the next 2 months
