| Quote Snowy="Snowy"Wowww Peeps !!!
Whats that all about ??
Widnes is more densly populated.
And smoggier!! '"
That my friend is an inevitability.
Widnes have been through the industrial revolution and is I can assure you quite a modern town, Barrow are still lodged (and I do mean lodged) somewhere between the stone and bronze age.
No offence to you leythers btw. No offence. But every time one of you posts I get that Duelling Banjos song stuck in my head.

It's amazing how they manufacture all those nuclear subs using only flints and tools made from bones.
Surely Leigh takes the record when it comes to a dense population, though?
That 71k figure is for the county borough, not the town itself.

I thought Widnes was one of the big players in the industrial revolution?

I thought it was the major inspiration for Bill Gates' rise to prominence.
Hence, Widnes 95, Widnes 2000, Widnes XP etc.

| Had this debate many a time, but I am sure around 2004 census Widnes was about 58,000 or so, but I reckon we are talking 62-65k tbh. Barrow is a sizey place, in fairness. A bit rough, but then again so is Widnesia in parts, so probably best not to gloat too much. God I love our industrialised haven so much lads. 3 eyed fishes or not, who gives a damn, at least we have heritage, history, an industrial revolution and the first official world club rugby league champions on our CV.
wahey.
