Your sentence is followed by a question mark, which implies that you were asking a question when you are infact pointing something out. For statements such as these I would recommend a full stop or indeed an exclamation mark.'"
Unless you're an Aussie or an American, whom end every sentence with a [i'high rise terminal'[/i. I'm no prescriptivist but that irritates the out of me, especially when I hear English people starting to do it.

Apparantly it was caused by the popularity of programmes like Neighbours and Home and Away.

| Let's be honest lads. We're not posh nonces. No one here can really take the high ground on "proper" pronunciation and grammar as we all talk gutter and that's the best way to have it.
Language nazis are freaks.
Let's leave the "queens english" nonsense and the "soup spoon" nonsense and the "eating dinner at tea time" nonsense to the upper class pillocks and move on.

Those f*****g Teutul's aren't helping either. Why people want to sound like a thick, pink haired, Californian bimbo I have no idea.

I agree, but there are acceptable limits to everything. It makes me grind my teeth whenever I hear it. It's nothing to do with being a language Nazi. If people sound every f******g sentence like they're asking a question, half the time you wont know when they are asking a question. It's just an awful American West coast fad. These fads have a nasty habit of taking off over here.

But in this case, on this message board, I've seen people put a question mark after a sentence if they're not quite sure and want confirmation.
It's not the same as what you're talking about.

When I made my first remark I wasn't having a go at the poster that put the question mark at the end of his non question. I was making an flippant observation to [i'Dirfstu ad Dreyma'[/i about a far worse issue than the post of '[iBertie Magoo's PA'[/i.
That's hardly being a language Nazi as I was not having a go at [i'Bertie Magoo's PA'[/i.

I was merely taking the out of WREs 'no need for it' post.
I don't really care where a question mark goes. Sorry for starting a massive debate!
