The way things were talked about last night, I doubt there's any plan to acquire a front line half back. Got the impression we'll go with Horne and Miller, with Heremaia getting specialist kicking coaching during pre-season for when he is needed (think all our halves could benefit from this personally) and any signing will be made to support Horne.

Maybe that's the way to go? It would give us a reasonable amount of time to go through the normal recruitment cycle for a half in 2015. By then I fully expect one or two of the current crop of young halves to be ready to step up and be a back up to Miller and A N Other.

To be fair Houghton kicked better last season, maybe this is another area we could improve.



But our fundamental issue was that we didnt have the skills to unlock defences, so we need this sorting or it's same again next season.

Unless we sign a quality centre who arises from the World Cup I would prefer to see Arundel start at left centre ahead of Yeaman.

If that's true Horne for Holdsworth is a big negative step, some of the criticisms of him are valid, but despite him being an Aussie he was possibly our most important player last season.

I initially thought that, but the way it reads in today's HDM it's 2 players, 1 of whom will be an outside back, the other a halfback. Would make slightly more sense given how many outside backs we already have.

I can't agree with that given that our performances seemed to fall apart around the time Horne got injured. That suggests Horne was more important than Holdsworth.

How can he have been our most important when he went missing most of the time,sorry but holdsworth was very average,take away his kicking game and that was it.

He was in the team for his kicking game, possibly the most important aspect of a modern halfbacks role, something we'll miss if not replaced. I'm not sure how he "went missing" either to be honest, he was a pretty limited player, but for me did everything needed from him, let's not forget the original plan was to play him with Prince. Think it's more of naive fans expecting more from a player, has never been a flair player.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can remember 5x 20- 40's last season. 2 from holdwsorth,& 1 each from horne, Houghton, & heremia. also quite a few good kicks from dummy half from the last 2 mentioned

I think we have got to sign another halfback.theres still a question mark over wether miller will improve enough to guide us around,horne will I think be lucky to play half a season and we have tried with heremaia before at half and it doesn't work.

Can't tell you how I know but they must have already signed a player but they haven't announced it.

If he was solely brought in for his kicking then 50% of the time he was woeful being predictable and innacurate, as shown above he only kicked 2x 40/20s which again isn't that great IMO, especially when you consider his great lack in all other aspects of half play. He's also shat at kicking between the sticks!

As an overall contribution Horne had a greater impact at the start of last season despite all the turmoil regarding whether he was going to cut the mustard..



I'd be fairly happy to offload Holdsworth because honestly any decent half who is tasked with kicking as his main priority can do what holdsworth does and still be able to exceed what he offers elsewhere... Brough is twice the player Holdsworth is, why the England coach ostracised him I'll never know..
