Over the last 18 months or so Briscoe hasn't shown me anything Whiting couldn't give us if we wanted a non-quota FB.

I still think it will be a quota place position, but I don't think it will be Phelps. Hopefully Matt Bowen or Minichello? Although my preference is for the former.



I expect Briscoe might end up back West, just a lot further than across myton bridge, namely - Widnes.

He didn't sh*t on anyone. That said, on recent form I would want us to sign someone a lot better.

Briscoe has lost it. He'll be joining a lower end SL club or a top NL1 side.

Went for the money because his agent said he would get international honours that season and deserved internationals pay. Remind me how many times he played for England that season?

Tbf to him he went for more wages, who can blame him? He'll probably have another 50-75k in the bank due to his move.

Not the player he once was so no thanks, One Briscoe ( a real gem ) is enough.

I agree, interestingly Briscoe, Cookie & Horney were all outstanding together, however since they have been split up none of them have really stood out barring the odd game here and there.

I think we had Shaun's best years to be honest. Rovers fans can say what they want. but he hasn't been the player for them that he was for us. Still a dependable full-back but has lost a bit of his attacking edge for me.

I think Peter Sharpe screwed Shaun over in all fairness. Motu Tony?! No way was he a full back!

I don't think we should have let him go when we did but we still had his best years. He was a good servant to the club but I don't think we should go back in for him if the Dobbins decide to let him go.

There is way too much hearsay about why he left, the truth.... FC let him go because he was asking above what the club valued him at and with cover at the time in that position he went .... BUT never said anything bad about FC , in fact to my knowledge was very complimentary and was very sad to leave .

A very steady player, very solid in defence , great supporting player, decent pace but my personal preferance is not to re sign past players.

To go forwards you need new younger blood mixed with quality seasoned seniors and as someone quite rightly said we have Rich W to play FB if needed, however we still have Minichello on the radar AND Phelps has done a decent job too ...

Why do people still want to find someone to blame for Briscoe leaving the club? It was just one of those things that sometimes happen during contract negotiations - no fault of either party. And to suggest that he did us wrong or was screwed over by the club/coach is just unnecessary drama.

Thats about the truth of it, Peter Sharps obbsession with 'utility' players and his idea that full back was not a specialist position.

So why did we make him an offer, that he refused and then when he didn't get the money his agent was telling him he would get elsewhere come back for the original offer, only for the club to have withdrawn their initial offer because of signing up Motu Tony. He got greedy cos the Dobbins were flashing the cash because they were trying to outdo us.
