Whilst Scott had a good game today, I think most would argue Hardaker is a better option than Scott and Lane/Litten (who we had on at the time of posting).
My main point was they’re a rag tag bunch put together out of necessity. We’re up to shirt 47!

| Jeez - it's plain to see most of the posters on here have never played an actual physical team sport in their lives. What a bunch of moaning whining fa****s.! You're beaten before you start! Take the positives from tonight and move on. Don't ever take up coaching RL no matter how qualified you all think you are

I’ve really wanted Scott to cement his position at centre and be our starting number 3, but he’s just not kicked on consistently. He has some brilliant games, but unfortunately he’s not an up and coming youngster anymore and you don’t get your chance forever. He made his debut in 2018 - when is the plenty to come going to come?
He played really well today, but it’s just not consistent. Like a large proportion of our squad to be honest, which is why a lot of them won’t be here.

What are you expecting of him?
Grix was brought in as an assistant to learn from a supposedly experienced coach.
Recruitment has been poor, training and fitness both lacking in quality with no real style of play or defensive cohesion.
Grix has steadied the ship and instilled a will to work but was never going to transform this lot into winners.
We have generally a poor squad and a few too many lazy liabilities.
For me Sao, Lane, Scott, Reynolds, Houghton, Sutcliffe, Briscoe and Smith are either past it or not good enough.
Huddersfield were poor tonight and a decent team I'm sure would have beaten them.

| new poster collywobbles
Has to be Grix
While you are on the Forum Simon why did you play Houghton knowing that he has a rib injury which has to restrict his play, and Sutcliffe who was playing with a pulled hamstring caused by his world record speed 70 metre interception try the other week which led to his forced removal at half time tonight and likely to keep him out for several weeks. Not that it matters now because he is rubbish and deserved to be dropped on current form
Information from Grix himself.
Makes him look an ever bigger wally

| Can’t quote Collywobbles but agree with him to a degree. We are now in games with some hope. Given our position a few weeks ago we now go into games with a chance- we now have a new coach coming with some decent new players and we have some young talent. Many just like to see negatives - DH past it, Grixs odd decisions - a championship coach, why is Lane picked, Huddersfield crap too bla, bla. There’s some scope for criticism clearly and that’s fine but balance with positives too? Glass half full would give a better Hull FC world. The club are trying to up their game fans could too, imo

| Has Grix steadied the ship though? We've played London, Cas and Hudds in our last 3 games and have been the second best team in all 3 games.
Grix was doing all the field sessions under Smith so it's just a continuation of what has gone on under the previous coach.

| In recent weeks there has been an improvement in effort and endeavour (as there was again last night), the players are now at least looking like they mean it, so we have made progress in that area since the first couple of months of the season.
I think we now have another problem to add to our long list of faults and inadequacies, we have simply forgotten how to win. Huddersfield didn't look that much better than us throughout the game, but apart from the last two minutes I never had the feeling we were going to turn it around.
I reckon these endless defeats have knocked so much stuffing out of the team, that there is now an in-built expectancy that we will ultimately lose in the end. The last three games (London, Cas, Huddersfield) have all been potential wins which have ended in defeats. I think losing has now become an embedded state of mind as much as any of our other myriad deficiencies.
It's one of the major problems teams have when they find themselves in a situation similar to ours right now, how do you break a losing mentality? Not sure that Grix and Cummins have the capabilities to alter that type of mind-set if it is subconsciously buried deep within the players psyche.

| Can't quote you BP1 but I agree with you saying we've forgotten how to win. Hudds were there for the taking last night, they haven't won at home all season (apart from v us in the cup) and if we'd have won, their coach would likely have been sacked. It's like what the sky commentators kept alluding to, we just seem to be grateful to get to the end of the set and putting a kick up...there's no thought as to what the kick will be, will it be a grubber, a 40/20, a chip, a bomb, target a certain player, it just seems to be get to the last play, kick it up in the air, try not to concede on the next set, do the same again...with a bit more thought and creativity with the kicks...we could've won last night
