The problem with overseas players is that you can be waiting months for the visas to be sorted unless that has been going on in the background and if they aint being playing then they are going to take a few weeks at least to be ready for SL.

Why couldn't we have found him last year, when he was available and we'd just sold the best British SH in SL??

Like chapster said the reserve nrl standard is still higher than most British or certainly available British halves.

Not sure where sammut played his rugby, in the reserves? Or lower leagues? Certainly not saying we shouldn't look at British but weve got to get real and realise we need someone, and smartish.

Precisely; Cooke was rumoured to be on 80k+ and Leano would have taken that well over 100k. If Sammut is on more than that at Crusaders, I'll eat my hat.



There was also the chance last season to go in for Matty Smith and Stefan Ratchford, neither of whom will be demanding big wages yet.



You've got to look to JK I'm afraid; his obsession with former Hull players and crocked old-stagers blinds him to more creative recruitment options.

I do not think Charlie was on as large a salary as you think. Re Crusaders would love to see what their wage bill is compared to ours !
