I don’t disagree with your team selection in principle. The League should be are top priority. But just a note of caution, the RFL and Sky wont be too happy and could with hold any prize money for the Cup run on the grounds of Keighley damaging the integrity of the Challenge Cup, lets make sure we have enough first team players in to avoid this, The RFL would love another chance to stitch the Cougars up.

I know you are all talking about resting players and a second team etc? Is this because you have a few injuries in your team? At Widnes we have several players who have been out injured, so it will automatically not be the best team possible. Mellor, Carberry, Ah Van, Cahill, Clarke, Joseph and O Carroll have been injured a while now. We have also had Phelps, Craven, Gore and Allen not fully fit too. Paddy Flynn has been excellent and is banned for this game. So it will be a reserve Widnes side virtually.

Most/all of this team has 2014 Championship experience and have played in the first team so not bad I would suggest. We are fortunate this season to have a bigger better squad and able to field virtually two teams of quality players.

Our squad has been named and its pretty strong, correctly showing the resect you deserve, safe journey over.

I’d also expect Law, Cherryholme, Luke Haigh and Ben Sagar to be in the 17. So that’s at least 13 who can be regarded as first team squad. Don’t forget difficulty of same players getting time off work midweek two weeks running. Hope Ben Stead plays & kicks penalty goals all night & puts up bombs (their back three look a bit dodgy when pressured under high kicks). If the lads dig in and can do it, selection for the semi final will be difficult!

Could maybe see Josh Lynham get a crack as well , he's a young un who could probably cope better with a short break between games unlike our 'Golden Oldies '.Maybe as well one of the regular flyers in Barnett or White , apart from Gav ,wing is one place where we're a bit short in reserve and however good a season young Andy Gabriel is having for the 20's he surely isn't physically ready for the challenge of facing the Vikings.

I am sure whoever gets picked, whoever pulls on the red and green and represents Keighley Cougars will do us proud. Let's get behind them, C'mon Cougars!
