| no-one is crtisizing the young lad,and that is what he is,just needs a bit more time, and yes he could be a world beater.if barrett was still here tomkins would have played a few matches some off the bench and would have gained the experience.so lets get real and nuture the lad the correct way.

| Cracking little player he is although I think he looked a little bit tired tonight. He probably needs a few games off to to freshen up, then get him back in the side. I think runs of games that young Sam and Kallum Watkins have had are perfect for exposing young players to super league. At no point do I think youngsters should have one game here and there and then be wrapped back up in cotton wool.

| Quote jonh="jonh"Disagree. Eastmond was under pressure tonight and came up with some real touches of composure and class. He is also more physically developed. Don't think he is a better prospect just has developed a bit quicker at this moment in time, both should go on to be international players.'"
A couple of points under pressure?? He came back into a team on form and had what 20mins +, no pressure at all, the whole of Wigan are hoping Sam is super man. Besides this is not the boys first season in super league.
What I do agree is I dont feel he is a better prospect just the right person, in the right place at the right time. Unfortuanatley for Sam he is the right person, in the right place at the wrong time.

| Tomkins was good tonight - as were 15 other players.
He will be a England player for years. It would help if we had a proper #7 alongside him, thats not a slant at Tommy, he is a great player but im not sure how suited they are to playing together.

| Tomkins is already a SL standard player. Yes, he needs to be protected from burn-out but if you are good enough then you're old enough. Faz, Robinson and Edwards played at even younger ages...
I can't understand why anyone would suggest playing Smith or Phelps ahead of Tomkins. Phelps is a very limited player and Smith simply hasn't delivered. We need to have faith in our younger players.
The main problem tonight was the apparent lack of planned moves - do we practise any moves in training? - which is a coaching issue. This game was yet another piece of evidence for the Noble Doubters. I hope BN's dull Bratfut tactics and methods don't stifle Tomkins' creativity.

| I can't believe anyone would say he should be dropped.
All i'm saying is for the lad to back himself a little more. He's a class act and a great runner but he looks a little tentative about running the ball in at the moment incase he upsets his teamates.
He's ging to be a wow of a player.

| Personally would like to see Tomkins drop in at 7 with TL at 6, think on the link plays TL would be more effective at second receiver because of his ability to beat a man in open play.

TL is no more a Number 6 than Feka.
TL is a 9 end of.
Tomkins age and experience was shown tonight (as was Ainscoughs on a couple of occasions).
That's ok. They ARE young.

| Leuluai is a 9 without doubt. He does a job at 7 but we could really do with an organiser at 7.
As stated plenty of times everyone knows what we need and thats a 7 and a world class prop.
I hope Lenagan provides them for us.
