| So basically as much time spent as the young lads who play championship and lower division but they also have to go to work. Maybe they should train to become part time refs it would be a lot easier on their bodies amd time

| Excited of course they do, they all sit round on a wed and decide who is going to win as well
Sort of stuff that is looked at is to make sure they have the best chance to be in the best position, eg Danny Brough % wise what will he do on 4th or 5 play if he gets the ball.
Itsmeagain so basically as much time spent as any Super League player who plays full time.
Most part time clubs will train what? Twice a week? So 5 days a week full time as a ref works out a bit more than 3 hrs on a tues and thu eve

| You didn’t seem to understand the process though itsme the full time Refs Work 5 days a week either reffing, or training one way or another. How that equates to the same as a part time player am unsure.
And slight mixed messages from you, you now saying the refs should all be part time? Thought you wanted more full time

Cardio Training would take maybe 3 x10k runs a week for a peak referee to stay in shape.....maybe some agility training, but that's it. The rest of the time should be spent watching match tapes, as well as maybe mentoring newbies.
As Jobs go, a Full Time ref doesn't strike me as a bad little number (so long as you've got thick skin)

| Of course that’s all they do, 3 runs a week! Tapes? What are tapes? You are a bit behind the times.
You didn’t bother reading the rest did you?
Feel free to go back and read the whole thread! Recovery sessions! Review session! Game prep sessions, all part of training, train the mind and the body!

Because if you read my post instead of looking how to criticise I said they have to do as much training and play at weekends AND GO TO WORK FULL TIME

I'm more interested in the quality of what the refs do rather than the hours they work but having said that it doesn't strike me as an especially demanding job.

| Bloke again you didnt read a post correctly. Take the time to read the content before you jump, I didnt say part time refs would be better I actually said it would be easier for the young lads to be part time refs than players. explaining for you - They train two evenings a week, play on a weekend, run the risk of injury and work between 37 - 40 hours a week some doing extremely demanding manual work not everyone is lucky enough to sit at a desk.

| Itsmeagain, bit of a daft post though really! Players play because they want to, not because they have to! Part time pros choose to do that. They could very easily choose to do something else.
Some part time players also play, train twice a week and do extremely undemanding work like sitting at a desk.
Same as those that choose to ref, the part time ones train when they can and some work between 37-40 hours a week sometimes doing extremely demanding manual work not everyone is lucky enough to sit at a desk!
You choose your sport or your role in the sport.
