| A season like 2014 would be very difficult. Certainly it would be no fun.

| Quote Bostwick="Bostwick"Garry Schofield has us beating Wakefield by 8 points. I do not know if that is good or bad news.'"
I really mean no disrespect here but as a Wakey fan making the trip down I will be very dissapointed if we lose to London. There’s always the chance of a the ocassion giving London a boost though there’s always an argument for the flip side.
I’m pleased London are back and I hope you fans enjoy some success and finish above 12th because as a wakey fan I know the feeling of losing 5/7/10+ on the bounce and it’s horrible.
The reason I would be gutted if wakey lose is that we have been in transition for the last 2/3 years and are progressing ever so slightly season by season to almost break that top 4. As a fan I’m naturally hoping we finally break out of transition this year and actually challenge and to do that you have to manage ocassions like another teams return to the top flight with professionalism and getting the W.
We have strengthened yet again in 2019 and to see Wakey regress would be both against the grain of recent times and dissapointing but there is always that chance.
Personally, I’m sure it will be a great ocassion for London and Wakey and I’m looking forward to seeing what London have to offer. I too thought there would be a few more additions to London with some big investment in an impact prop and the half’s the very least. As a wakey fan though I know players that are written off can turn around and develop into some very good SL standard players (Reece Lynn is a prime example).

| I wish Wakey well, but hope earlyseaon enthusiasm carries her through. It is totally unrealistic to think that David Hughes would fork out big money on a couple of marquee players. Our last experience wasn’t great.
Let’s see what the team can do. We were written off last year especially after the mid season wobble, yet we bounced back. I remain a glass half full person. We only need to finish second to bottom. 7/8 wins? I believe we can do that. To get promotion was a tremendous achievement, let’s enjoy the next stage!

| TH like your approach and enthusiasm. Think you have to temper your enthusiasm and wakey progress with what has happened with other teams though, eg leeds and Warrington having poor seasons, has resulted in you ending up closer to the 4. Don’t get me wrong last couple of seasons your lot have shown a bit of consistency which is great to see, RL needs a break from the same same rut it has got into with GF.
As for your trip down south, hope you bring a few fans and hope it’s a good game whatever the result.
For london the squad in my view is a bit thin, we will struggle with the intensity in SL but this has to be a game london can win, first game of the season is always bit of an unknown.

| I get the angle your coming from northern with the “top teams have underperformed” and I would be inclined to agree had we only finished 5th once but twice isn’t an accident (along with 8th 3 years ago). The old saying you can only play what’s in front of you applies and we have beaten many of the top teams these past 2 years and in some cases quite convincingly.
There’s always going to be that cautious approach to a team like wakey who are at present a mid table team as history dictates that.
The pleasing thing is and this goes back to some earlier discussion is that Wakey have cut their cloth and run to budget as a business to get where they are consistently. It seems this approach is what London are going for. Certainly more sustainable than the Salford method.
Truly though, there’s a little apprehension I can’t shake as I’ve seen wakey fall to pieces after a shred of hope over the years. With that not happening for 3 years and consistent baby steps being taken in not tempering my enthusiasm for a change. Of course that leaves me open to being crestfallen if it does go sideways but I’ll take that if it happens lol.

| Missed the last part. I won’t write off London winning. This is rugby league afterall and form fluctuates. I’d be dissapointed though but we seem to give teams more respect than we did previous years and I hope we give London the respect as it will be a long night if not.
If London make it through this year then I can see them building on that as their approach certainly seems like that of Wakefield’s in that you get the best value for your budget and no more.

| It is going to be a tough season for the broncos this year, our aim has to be twofold! Survive the season in SL without too many embarrassing score lines, and build the fan base back up.
Sadly if we end up the wrong end of a few hidings then getting the supporters through the gate is not easy.
If we can manage it, then there might be some further investment to build on the brand.
Like you though I prefer to see a club build year on year like your lot with sensible spending.

| Quote northernbloke="northernbloke" and build the fan base back up.'" Hmmm......up to what exactly? Last season in SL we averaged 1,294, last season at the Stoop we averaged 2,808....we "jettisoned" some 500 fans when we left TW2 and then a further 1,000 after the abject 2013 season where we won just 5 games.
Season ticket sales being up 25% means we may have sold 560 instead of 450......we had about a 50% walk up v ST attendance last year, so that would have us getting about a 2014 size attendance, which in my eyes is a massive failure.
3,000.......if we can't attract 3,000 on average then we really are just peeing in the wind (again)......and yes, it's easier to sell a winning side, but we really do need to see more than a van driving around Ealing in terms of marketing.......I have no doubt that St Dave of Swinton will feel all warm and fuzzy with the corporate lounge full, but given he's on first name terms with 85% of those in corp-hospo, it points to very few NEW fans attending and it's NEW fans that the club needs (as well as a few returning regulars)
I'll settle for 11th with a 2,808 average, but my head says 1,500 and 12th

| Are you suggesting that 're building the fan base is not a good thing? Odd approach?
Any improvement in numbers is better than no improvement

Jesus wept......as apologist go, you really are up there! Hughes took control of a SL club with close to 5k average attendances.....I'll thank him when he get's us back there.....until then, 120 extra ST sales is for the Skolars to applaud!

| I find myself agreeing with CMG here. Ive been quite underwhelmed with the "Promotion" so far. Please Please prove me wrong but I think this season is going to be quite a mare. Lack of improvement in the squad, Im not talking about spending loads on journey men aussies, but I expected a bit more strength in the squad. There is great work going on at London but a total mare of a season will do us no favours.
