| Hi all. Long time watcher, first time poster. I've just got a new giants flag, st George with giants crest top left, northern soul fist bottom right (another love of mine) with 'falling in love' through the centre. 8ft x 4ft. I usually loiter near back of brittania, which seems a it of waste having flag up there, as won't be very visible to rest of ground?
Any ideas on best place? Was thinking over to side where away fans sat, draped over seats (tied down)? Usually a few empties to cover in that part of ground.
Am thinking of getting a decent sized Yorkshire flag to add to it (I do like a nice flag )
Was thinking of approaching hgsa and club about designating part of ground to flags, to encourage a bit of colour to match day, would there be any support for this?

| i would suggest the wings of the BR stand as there is usually plenty of room there.
and i like the idea of flags too, have a word with Ivor on here and am sure the Supporters association can mention it to the club.

Quote Huddersfield Giants Flags, Banners and Surfers Policy on matchdays
Huddersfield Giants and the Stadium Operator want to encourage an exciting atmosphere at its games and encourages fans to bring flags, banners and large ‘surfing’ flags – but these must adhere to the guidelines set by the Club in tandem with the Stadium’s Safety Team, as stipulated below.
Flags, Surfers & Banners - General
1. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to refuse to allow flags, surfers or banners to be displayed, particularly if content is considered to be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or inflammatory.
2. Any item that the Stadium Operator or any of its employees believe could potentially be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety is strictly prohibited and will be confiscated.
3. Any item above the area of 600mm x 1000mm must be flame retardant and have a fire safety certificate to prove so, provided in advance of match day
1. On occasion, where the Stadium Operator designates a sterile area (e.g. empty block of seats) as available within the Stadium, it may be possible for banners to be placed in the sterile area. Permission to do so must first be obtained from the Stadium Operator in advance via email to safety.officers@ksdl.org.uk or, in circumstances where this is not possible, by a senior steward prior to entry on a matchday.
2. Banners will not be allowed where they may block advertising, signage, exit routes, restrict the views of other supporters or in any way compromise the safe operation of the Stadium.
3. It is the responsibility of supporters who bring banners and surfers into the Stadium to ensure they are securely fastened at all times. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to remove any articles that have not been appropriately secured or become loose during a match.
4. The use of surfers or surfer-style banners designed to be passed over supporters' heads, will not be allowed after kick-off.
5. Supporters wishing to introduce new surfers and banners must contact the Stadium Operator in advance via email to safety.officers@ksdl.org.uk. The banner/surfer must be presented to the Stadium Operator at least three working days before match day with the appropriate fire certificate. The banner/surfer must also be presented prior to entry to the Stadium where it will be inspected by a senior steward.
6. Any surfers or banners brought into the Stadium without being approved by the Stadium Operator will be confiscated.
7. A register of banners and surfers which meet fire safety criteria will be kept by the Stadium Operator. A copy will be given to the Safety Officer to assist stewards in assessing approved articles.
8. The Stadium Operator reserves the right to change this policy as it deems fit or as required by the Local Authority, Rugby Authorities or any other body that helps to determine the safety of spectators at the Stadium.
9. Whilst the Stadium Operator endeavours to take good care of banners and surfers that are brought into the Stadium, it accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur at any time.

| Cheers, I contacted the stadium operator. They seem fine with flag, I just need to show fire certificate to stewards at first home game, and then register flag with stadium. They were ok with flag being draped over seats, as long I shift it if people want to use the seats, which is fair enough.
I'm liking the idea of down the wings of BR.

| Liking the idea of flags...
probably best down the left hand side of brittania stand near the away fans...
only problem with that is they wont get on tv as the cameras are rarely on that side of the ground so other side or behind posts might be a good idea

| Ivor, pm sent, thanks.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards away fans side of brittania. But also fantastic media stand would look good on tv with flags grouped together. I'll contact stadium and club about whether they'd be willing to designate an area. As long as guidelines are clear (fire cert, not covering advertising hoardings etc) then hopefully they'll go for it.
Ill feedback how I get on.

| Id be up for taking my flag to away games, and would lend a hand putting up others. You'd only need a handful of flags at most SL grounds for it to look quite impressive.
I don't get to all away matches (or home for that matter) but would always be up for helping out with putting flags up etc if needed whenever I go.
Maybe could coordinate via here everyone taking flags to away games, and could at least help each other out putting flags up?
I'm trying to get an early finish from work for widnes game, but will be tight as based in telford, Shropshire.

| More flags the better! Shows that the fans have gone that one step further, adds a load of colour and looks brilliant on sky!
Can't remember if it was last year or not but one of our posters put up a website address to design your own flag. Anybody know what it was by any chance?

| I got mine done at football flags.co.uk. £85 for 8ft x 4ft. Very good service and I'm well chuffed with the result. They use digital print techniques as opposed to traditional embroidery (such as barmy flags who are also good). For reference the same design by barmy flags was quoted at £240. This was due to the complexity of the crest. Flag took about 10 day turnaround from initial email contact with them.
I'll try to get a picture up if I figure out how.
I have 4 x 50cm rope cords for tying down, should be ok? Any feedback welcomed.

| Yeah, supporters flag looked good. In a good spot too hung in that corner. Mine looked bit lonely tucked away in the corner. She needs some company!
Stewards were adamant that it had to be up against the netting as per safety officers instructions. Not sure it was very visible.
Ivor, would there be any chance of hanging flag next to the supporters association one? That could look good.
Would supporters association be up for a flag fund, whereby people could collate monies to get some bigger flags? I'd be up for putting in some money.
