| That's kind of impossible.
Thorman has played twice for England, both times in 2005 versus France and NZ. He was called up to the GB squad for the France friendly in 2007 but missed the game with a thigh injury. Given when Smith took over there is no way he could have chosen him to play at 6 for the simple reason that Smith never actually played him.
What you also need to think about is the fact that if he gets picked to represent his country he can't be playing all that badly, can he.

| This has actually reminded me of something. I watched the 2005 review a couple of weeks ago and it was noticable that Thorman had a good stone on him more than he has now.
I think that Chris needs that weight on him to help him with his line breaks and his tackling.

| Whatever they both do, i for one wish them all the best - regardless of what people think of them we have to remember that these 2 guys were 2 of the most important figures involved with our recent march towards being a top club.
Thorman was ruined by Sharp in the end, sharp lost the support of the players and fans so it was never going to be a recoverable position.
good luck Jon and Chris

| Quote cagmartian="cagmartian"yes you'r right cracker, despite Jon starting to put him to FB Tony picked him as SO. His game and confidence on the field started falling after that decision by Sharp.'"
No. He was slected as a f/b in June 07. The Leeds halves were in the squad and expected to play - which they did. Thorman had been playing fb for 5 months at the time of the international.
Thorman's injury meant he could not play and this left a place for the second string fb - Melling. No one at the time thought Melling was drafted in as the 1st choice fb in the squad.
So Sharp and Smith saw CT as a fb at that time. In the 2007 season CT held up well at fb and the team had their best finish in SL (at the time) with him in that position. It was in 2008 that his game disintergrated.

| Sharp was at Saints on Friday night. Possibly just a spectator or is there something else in it? Either way my Son accidently tripped him up

| Id have to say that Luke Robinson has held up far better as scrum half than Thorman ever did at FB - and this is our best position for years
but dont let it stop anyone from trying to convince me that moving CT to FB was an astute ploy by Sharpe that Smith was totally supportive of
we`ll need quite a bit of time though.....................

Sharp selected CT at fb. In that position Smith selected him for the GB squad in 2007. Whether this convinces / does not convince people of anything does not change the basic facts.

Where sharp played him had little or no bearing on why smith picked him for the squad, unless you have proof?

| Of course it has bearing. Thorman was playing full back for us when Smith picked him. Had Thorman been playing badly he wouldn't have gotten picked. And as I said before, he didn't actually play for Smith. All of Thorman's appearances Internationally were in 2005. I think it was Karl Harrison who played him at stand off when he was playing stand off for the club.
You need to have another think about the sequence of events because your description of them is not representative of what actually happened.

It is very inconvenient how the facts intrude on the myth of Sharp destroying Thorman's career.
First he is one of only 2 fbs selected for the France game. The other being Melling.
Second that Tony Smith also rated CT as a potential fb. Pretending that TS watched Thorman at fb for 5 months and then selected him as a SO is truly laughable. It is even more laughable when you see the structure of the squad. Not content with infering that Sharp was an idiot now Smith must be one also.
Third we must assume that Thorman is so stupid that he goes to a club that has just employed the guy who 'ruined his career'.
Do not let facts get in the way of the fiction you need to believe.
Do let me know when you post suggesting Jon Sharp was the gunman on the grassy knoll. I am sure you will not let his dob get in the way of your thesis.
