Can't say I've ever heard of him, but there again I don't really follow the Academy game other then Salford.

Big lad and should get stronger in full-time training. Plays long minutes and knows his way to the try line. Player of the Year last year for the U19s, crazy that we have signed others and let him leave.

Yes, I would agree with Mark. I think we signed him back in 2005 and he came through the Scholarship team. He doesn't seem to pick up many injuries at all. Last season he scored 8 tries in 26 appearances. Defence is very good and always makes yardage. I was also surprised we didn't take him into the first team squad at the back end of last year. He is an Orrell St James lad.

Last year was his last at U19's and we didn't offer him a full contract for the 1st team squad but retained him (think might be pay per game) for the Reserves. Salford have given him a 2 year contract from the end of this season. So yes, as I understand it we have allowed him to leave.

Absolutely made up for Diz; he has got a great opportunity now in Super League.

It proves that the Reserves concept is working as he would probably not got this opportunity otherwise.

What do you think was the reason for the club not offering him a deal themselves, assuming they didn't? Was it down to cap issues or are there better young props in the reserves or U19s? I think Pat Moran got a full time deal a few weeks ago - does he look a better prospect than Murray?

Good luck to him, he has improved a lot over the passed 3 seasons and is first grade standard IMO
