Thank god Holbrook turned us down!



Despite the aura and relationships with players I love the way he listens and doesn’t think he knows it all despite his standing in the game. Imagine if Currie had asked Powell if he could play loose forward or Max Wood asking him to go out on loan…..they’d probably have been shipped off permanently.

I think we all owe Mrs.Holbrook a huge debt of gratitude.

Just thinking, when was the last time stains knocked us out of a cup/playoff tie? Must be over 10 years now?

Last year in the playoffs, but even then they didn't win convincingly against a poor side.

Didn't we knock Saints out away from home in 1993/94 in the Cup? That was my first year of watching. I'm pretty sure Steve Prescott had a nightmare on the wing for Saints.



Unless this was the Regal Trophy of course, it's easy to forget we used to have several competitions pre-SL.

It`s a very long time since we beat Wigan in ANY final.



I would guess that most posters on this forum have never seen us beat them in a final?



1980/81 Lancashire Cup Final was the last time that I recall us beating them, (When they were a second division team!!!)



Do any fans remember a later final victory over the Pies?

Ah, cheers. I don't really want to be reminded of that 80-0 game. Sort of started a spiral of mediocrity in the late 90s followed by us nearly going bankrupt.
