| For me the next big signing should be someone with the qualities of Sinfield.
We need someone who spends most of the game on the pitch and has the respect of the players.
We need a captain, Wild can't play long enough to have the impact he should as Captain and maybe he should be club Captain.
I'm not sure we currently have such a player.

| I think the ploy is rather to bring in a show stopper. Would a Sinfield-type player, for his undoubted worth to a team, create a buzz and add numbers through the gate. I'm not so sure.

| Maybe not but that big signing is probably for next season. The team need an on field leader and for me Wild's back isn't up to the time on the pitch.

Gleeson or McGoldrick were the ones doing all the talking Sunday, would be happy with McGolrick as he seems like a real snarler.

| For me rather than sign a big name that would cost a fair bit why not sign two or three decent up and coming players. I would sign Griffin up and another big decent prop along with a full back. Surely this would be better than one player

| Thought Griffin made a big difference for us when he came on last week. Shows that a big hard running forward can really lift a side.

| Sign Tomkins at this stage and we will all be moaning about how awful he is defensively. He needs the players around him to allow him to play his game.

I am sure they are looking at this though as well as the marquee signing. The big name signing is to grab the headlines and get a buzz about the place. Looking at the likes of Morley who cant give us 80 minutes would back this up. However, within the sport he is still a major name it gets people looking at us and gets them thinking that were not messing about here and we intend to compete.
Players in the Sinfield mould are ultimatley what we will strive to get but as said previously they dont put as many bums on seats which the big name player would. A Signing of Tomkins stature sends out a massive message even if he does need the players about him to be at his peak.

Well the big problem is the true crowd levels and how low they are. Before Koukash came along, the 'robust' business plan that would have seen Salford operate within its means was based on an average home attendance of over 3,000. Given Sunday's gate, we would be back to t =#000000ing our pants worrying about how to increase the gate.
It's clear the new regime wants a star turn at the club to radiate a new profile outwardly: both to lapsed paying customers and other decent players that are, perhaps, currently weary of taking the plunge.

A ball playing loose forward would be an excellent signing. It may upset Gold Coast Titans but an approach for Greg Bird would be my ideal, selfish, wish to come true.Saw him playing for Catalan Dragons while all his loved ones and legal team were in Australia and thought he was brilliant.Certainly had massive adversity and stress at the time but had the strength of character to put in remarkable performances.A little needle with Gary Hetherington just adds spice.[url=http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/oct/01/leeds-catalan-dragons-super-leagueLink[/url
I always think multiple signings attract a lot of interest.Although I don't like naming names - or predicting - or alert other clubs to any targets etc. and much prepare to wait until everything is signed, sealed and delivered,I think looking in the direction of Huddersfield Giants may have the players to fill the positions mentioned elsewhere.
Just 3 from Hudds will do

| I'd say the general formula for success and working within the cap is 3 high profile 'Superstar' players in key positions, half a dozen top quality youngsters on lower wages (Future Internationals), a few steady internationals and the rest being quality superleague/NRL players with big match experiance.

Think you are aiming a bit high there with Sir Kevin Sinfield ( RLW golden boot winner ), lets not get above our station ...they'll be out with pitchforks & burning torches heading west past Heartshead Moor services , only stopping for a Costa- Coffee on the way

No there's that field of sheep that would be too good for them to resist
I think there is something in the references to RU, would be a good way to generate publicity if the trend of RL players going the other way was bucked and someone who the RL/RU/general sports press would sit up and take note off. Half jokingly to a friend said at the weekend that I wouldn't mind Andy Powell from Sale as can see him making the grade but not really going to get many column inches with him and we could get him sponsored by the Marriotts golf buggy rental desk.

I agree entirely with my lad here. We looked a much bigger threat going forward. It just goes to show how badly we need (and have done for a while) some quality forwards, and how much it stands out when we have one on the park.
We have not ever really ever replaced Rutcho or Coley (he was good for us but great for Wigan).

| Firstly, Looking at the way Griffin ran the ball and the speed which he got back on his feet, he's definitely worth a punt. Then we need to how Mauro and Foran perform, but considering Wild and Nero are likely to be gone next year, and the small squad, we'll still have a sizeable chunk of salary cap for next season. Particularly as I heard Nero's got a sizeable contract.
Somebody mentioned Cameron Smith, not a chance, but what aiming slightly lower with Robbie Farrah? We could really do with a quality hooker, he'd bring a high profile and help develop Owen. Then we need a quality aussie forward, like Corey Patterson at KR, that would add real size.
Not that I'm suggesting we god given right to sign anyone.

I must admit I'd love to see Griffin stay.

| Kopzach (I know it's the wrong spelling) would have been ideal, I tell you what the 2nr rower from KR on Sunday Paea was huge and for me a couple of big raw boned Islanders like that would do.
Think what we'll see also is some unknowns being snapped up during or after the World Cup.

| "Next Big Signing" So who was your first?
Gleeson and McGoldrick were players no one else wanted. Griffin doesn't have a future at Leeds. Lowe and the Dr are going to have to get players like that who'll get you in the eight. Agar did it at Wakefield and Noble did it at Crusaders.
The idea that other clubs with wealthy owners are going sell their very best players to you is nonsense. As for the Dobson rumours, yes he's good with the ball in hand but have you ever seen his defence?
For the long term future you are going to have to re-start your U age teams so that the quality players come through your own club. With a wealthy owner in house you won't be forced to sell like you did with Ratchford, Myler and Smith. Pick up released players and bring through your own, top eight has to be your first target with players who will sign for you.
Your publicity went after Morley, Chase and Tomkins and you didn't succeed with any of them.
