| Had a good old chat with someone last night and he told me of 4 salford signings for next season, out of respect for the fella i wont say anything about them but ill tell you now there is nobody really worth shouting about, its 2 aussies and 2 brits, to be honest it has left me feeling a little dissapointed.
And by the way there are waiting till the franchises are given out before announcing any signings.

| If they're the right signing (and what Parish wants) then I don't care if they're a big name or not and Aussie or not.

| Complete guess based on nothing whatsoever but British based - Fozzard, O'Hara, George? (I'm really hoping it's not Fozzard btw!!)
It's clear a couple of quality forwards are needed along with a hooker. I would hope whoever we can bring in are good enough to take us forward and not just plug a gap.

I'd really hope we weren't signing anymore wingers for next season, unless Mark Henry is going home. A quality centre would really benefit the team, Wakey fans have been saying good things about one their centres, but I can't remember the guys name.
As for the two props, there's been some definite talk about Ryan O'Hara, I'd expect the other to be Paul Johnson (wakey), unless it's the centre from Wakey. Apparently we've been linked to Lauaki - see the Wigan forum - but I don't think the squad could carry him and Feka. Replacing Cashmere was going to cost money that we just don't have.
After last seasons big signing here/big signing there scenario, I'd just like to see the club make some astute signings. Similar to when Harrison was in charge. Unfortunately, we're stuck with Feka & Vinnie Anderson for another season/two, which is going to make signing new players difficult. No matter who we sign, I don't think the scenario will have changed, we still need our coach to get the absolute best out of the players.

| Our so called ' Top quality signings ' have under performed in the past
so if the new guy thinks he can get results from them OK by me
doubt if Salford will release any news re signings until Wednesday following Franchises.

| Who apart from Feka is overweight?
I do think our fitness levels have always been poor but at the start of this season are the worst I've ever seen. Makes me wonder if SM considered a large kebab and chips to be health food and weight lifting at the same time.

Clay, Adamson and Anderson are the only others I could class as being overweight. I think it's more a class of adding some muscle to certain members of our squad.
He clearly isn't talking about our fullback

Early in the season I asked a couple of the squad if they were monitored re their diet & weight , the answer was no.
Going back to Karl Harrisons time I'm sure he & Eddie McGuinness had fitness plans & Diets for players back in 2004-2005 , knowing the emphasis Wigan has on diet nowadays surprising.
Parish seems to be supportive of Veivers efforts however I'd be surpised if there wasn't some reorganisation of backroom staff. He knows he cannot buy his way to success with our budgets so he's got to make his impact show through better organisation & fitness first , better skill levels & tactics 2nd , & deliver SL quality players through our academies by 2013-14 to make the NRL notice him.
Wigan are advertising for an assistant coach for 2012 so presumably Shaun Wayne is taking over from Maguire now structures are in place.
It's obvious from Wilkinsons comments following Parish getting the position that Saford are hoping he can provide the same framework.

| As already mentioned I'm not too concerned if the players aren't "big names" as long as the new coach gets who he wants then I don't see it as an issue at all. At least it will stop any false pre season hype like there was before this season.

Yeah but he's no good to us as he can't train Tuesdays when he has to go and collect his pension
There's nood good reason to go assett stripping Wakey when/if they lose the franchise as if all there players were that good they would'nt be in the position at the bottom of the league they are.
That Joel Moon by all accounts is a good un but isn't a fan of playing in the centres, think Ratchfords decision on a new contract will a big influence on recruitment as if he stays there is a qorld class young back we don't need to replce.
Are we not able to put Fek and Anderson on the open market without a fee involved? I'd rather see 3 brand new props brought in and then find another hooker and centre if Williams turns out to be the long term answer for the other winger.

Morrison could prove a big mistake, I'd rather see a younger player come in. I think he would be step in the wrong direction, despite his obvious quality. Infact, if i'd won that £161m on the euro-millions last week, Anderson's contract would have been packed up and he'd have been out of the club. We knew Feka was going to be liability in defence, but Anderson is proving just as bad, if not worse than Feka. The amount of times he's completely missed tackles and we've let in tries is ridiculous. It must be at least twice a game, every game, and he's costing us far too many points. A real shame because he was always one of my favorite players, prior to his arrival at the Willows.
We just can't afford to play both of them in the same team. It's one thing the backs getting targetted, it's another when the opposition target our forwards.

| My feelings on the current playing squad are let's see how they react with the new coach in charge. Regardless of how they have performed up to now I think it would be a wrong decision to not give them a chance to prove themselves under, what seems to be, a complete re-working at the Club by Parish. Good players don't just become bad players all of a sudden and it's usually to do with coaching, fitness and mental well-being. Personally if it's good enough for Parish then it's good enough for me. Let's see what he can achieve with these players after an off-season to mould them how he sees fit.
As for new signings, I would not be surprised to see the priority as increasing the squad numbers and competition for places. We are not going to have buckets of cash to throw all over the place so can probably see the signing of decent and steady players instead of superstars or massive names. As much as I'd like to be proved wrong we have got to remember we are currently a sub-top eight side with poor crowd revenue and a Chairman who financially keeps the boat from sinking. Anyone who gets upset that we are not planning to sign Billy Slater and Jonathan Thurston needs to have a sit down in a dark room.
