RIP Simon

My condolences to his family and friends.

I've just been informed by the club that they are unable to organise a minutes silence on Friday but they will be mentioning Simon in the match programme on Friday

That's a shame, but I'm glad they've tried and also that he'll be acknowledged in the prgramme.

Both Castleford and Hull KR have had similar tributes along with the last post in the past couple of weeks to remember all our brave lads.

how much organising does it take to stop for 1 min before the game to pay respect, i'm sure the flames wouldnt mind 1 less dance and its not as if we have mass entertainment proir to the game.sorry but thats not an excuse'we haven't got time'...

I'm disappointed that the club cannot do this. Maybe I'm a bit close to everything to be completely understanding as to why this couldn't happen... but surely it's a case of telling the match officials... who inform both teams. The only other people who need to know is the person on the microphone (Paul M) who needs something to read out... and the match commissioner.



Cadishead Rhinos will certainly be holding a minute silence before our friendly this weekend... would have been nice to see the City's only professional club do the same for a fallen hero of our city.

Sorry BBM, but what is there to organise.

Excuse my probable total ignorance on this but...

Players come out stand in the centre circle, and then the spectators and players stand for a minutes silence to show our respect to a brave local lad who died fighting for his country.

I do not think this is too much for the club to arrange.

It might be worth checking what's actually involved in organising a minute's silence before assuming that the club are in the wrong over this.

The club have to write to R.F.L to get permission for the minutes silence, & when that is agreed then the Ref's boss to be informed & then the ref. When they all agree, they then have to ask the opposing team's officials/coach's to ok it. Its not just a matter of "ok, we will do it" from the club, its like everything, there is certain protocol to adhere to.



Would have been a nice gesture but, as posted, just not a case of doing it.
