looking at it as a salford point of view and its a good move Oldham produce some fine young players and if we can get the cream of the crop and fast track them we will improve a lot



But if the shoe was on the other foot and we were force to link up with a superleage team then that might just be the end of it for me. where is the ambition? how are you surpose to be the best team in the world if you cannot get better? i have no pride in seeing rachford or myler possibly picking up a grandfinal winners medal playing for wire after basically learning their trade with us.



But Salford > any other rugby league club so if we benefit from this bonkers plan then so be its a dog eat dog world and i dont want to be eaten

Oldham have always had links with Leeds and at one stage there was a youth development set up with the club.

It would be brilliant for us to get a link up with them but I fear it will not happen.

Look at the players from Oldham in recent times(and past) and you can see why any club would want to link up with them.

some people are seeing this the wrong way round...



Having a link with Oldham will NOT give us greater access to Oldham born lads. If Oldham lads were already learning to play via the Oldham set-up, they'd have a far better league position!



What these link ups enable is for SL signed lads to get a higher level of competitive experience not a way of accessing local talent as the better players will have already been identified and signed-up by SL clubs. SL teams sign lads at 14/15, and I know we scout heavily within Oldham, but so do Leeds, and Huddersfield, and everyone else. In fact, when we played at Bradford last year it was amatuer sides from Oldham that paraded around the pitch. Everyone want's a bit of Oldham talent, but this process doesn't provide it.
