Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Sixth Round DrawThe draw for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup sixth round draw took place live on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme this morning.
Round six is probably the most anticipated of the season, with last years top eight Super League clubs joining the remaining eight teams who have battled their way through the earlier rounds.
Radio 4’s most popular programme, Today, was chosen to host the draw as it reaches more than three million daily listeners.

| Some good ties there, quite a few not easy to call.
Cats may be in for a culture shock also

| Yep, some interesting matches, we have Saints so that is hard to call. Would like to think that Toulouse might have a decent go at Wakefield.
Don't know if anyone listened to the draw but the presenters were being really snotty, almost making fun of the sport (I know its radio 4 so it is a given) and acting like it was some completely new, alien concept. Idiots.

| Great draw for Oldham, hopefully a good turn out from 'Wire' and a bit of cash for 'Roughyeds'...

Crap wasn't it.
I assume having the draw live on BBC Radio is a contractual obligation as part of their coverage of the CC(?). None of them really wanted to be there, loads of mentions about Union, including Offiah.

| It was better than Richard Bacon bumbling his way through it the other year - but I couldn't see the need for an interview with Greg Mulholland about the shortcomings of the code; the point was valid, but perhaps the timing wasn't ideal.

For the BBC perhaps it was.
Never listened to the draw but someone on Total RL forum mentioned that Martin Offifah was asked what code he preferred. Don't know if this is true or not but he should have answered we are making the draw for the greatest Rugby League knock-out cup in the world. Why mention Rugby Union?

He was - and he replied that it was like asking a child to say which parent he preferred; and that he liked scoring tries and had scored a hatful in both codes.

| The draw on radio 4 was an utter disgrace.
Why the hell do we put a draw for one on the oldest cup competitions in sport on there, without any decent RL person there to bang the drum.
Yes, Offiah has some decent pedigree but, our sport was firmly cast as a second rate, northern based sport and although
Offiah talked up participation level's, it was embarrassingly clear that he wasn't going to say anything positive, when asked, to make comparisons with Union.
Christ, they don't talk about League when making any RU draw's.
It was an amateur affair from start to finish.
Dave Woods tried to bring some knowledge to proceedings but, the rest of them were a disgrace to our sport.

| I'd guess the presenters know nothing about League let alone the history of the cup and are too lazy or my likely couldn't give a toss to do a modicum of research beforehand. The only way they can relate to "Rugby" is through Union which they were brought up with and still probably watch and know it's a superior game watched by superior people. David Woods is wheeled out to try to educate and promote our sport. The presenters will patronise us Northerners and point out fans from industrial sh*tholes will descend en masse to London and have a bloody good day out. Fans from different clubs will sit next to each other etc, etc It's been the same for years and won't change.
I can't understand why they couldn't have the draw on 5 live sport one evening preferably when Eleanor Holdroyd is hosting the show. Ian Robertson and John Inverdale could draw the balls out.

He’s such a fine ambassador for our code isn’t he.
He didn’t have the balls to give ultimate credit to the game that made him & he’s still getting gigs off the back of it!
Thank God he wasn’t cast in bronze like the other greats of our game, oh wait…

| Cringed through the entire segment. Straight to the draw would have been preferable to the sheer ignorance on display beforehand.

I would have thought that Batley vs Catalans and Wakefield vs Toulouse were the two games of the round.
If Wakefield lose to Toulouse then the RLF leaders, especially Nigel Wood, will look rather stupid for having put Toulouse through so many unnecessary and years wasting hoops.

Well I would have liked the Toulouse game as well, I would have thought that they would have put a game on where there might be a giant killing, this seems the most likely.
