| Well said.
No-one has even started a thread congratulating him on winning the Four Nations yet.

| I think we are a week early, lots of fans sitting on the fence, me being one of them.

| I'm not quite sure he's earned any unreserved apologies just yet. I never really had much doubt that we'd beat NZ last night, but in fairness it was a disciplined performance and well earned.
The main thing I give him credit for is selecting his preferred side at the start of the tournament and sticking with it, while all around him are knee-jerking at every mistake made. This undoubtedly helped the performance yesterday.
The real test is next week though. If we win that then a lot of the credit must go to McNamara.

Why? Will he be deemed a poor coach if we lose next week, but amazing if we win? That's very, very fickle.
At the end of the day he's got us to a final and done exactly the same as Tony Smith did and without some very good players too (Ellis, Burgess to name two).

| The jury is still out for me. He's done mcuh better than I thought he would but there are still question marks over his selection. Sinfield is still not an international-calibre stand off. The first 30 minutes from last nights game showed this. If we have repeat sets inside Australia's twenty in the final and don't score, we will get punished for it

Yep, spot on.
McNamara's England were -poor last year, and have done nothing of any note this year up until the last two weeks where we've seen a reasonable display at Wembley, and a good performance and result last night. He's got a long way to go yet.

Asim ill give ya this your not an out an out conservative pessimist aka sally cinnamon' maybe a moderate 'pezz'of the fence sitting fraternity the atypical agnostic leaguie "oh bugger ill believe when i see it"i can guarentee if we lose next week ill be magnanimous and say fair enough were not quite up to it but show so far it has a feel good factor ive not seen from the 3 previous coaches

| The problem comes when you get 'fans' who think they have the first clue about coaching, team selection, player roles and what goes on in training. Reminds me very much of the McDermott bashers on the Leeds board, by all means have an opinion but don't delude yourselves to think it's right. McNamara was in charge of the bulls in his only club role, and as Mick potters shown this year, you can't polish a turd.
