| As an opposition fan the only halfback from Bradford i feared tonight was Jeffries. He at least tried to take the line on and caused us a couple of problems.
I've always had Deacon down as a good inplay kicker but even that part of his game was poor tonight. He doesn't cause you a jot of bother when running the ball and was targeted in defence.
Overall very poor.

| Deacon was shocking last night. As the above post said, the Wigan team constantly targeted Deacon and Sykes and it paid dividends!

| Quote tigertot="tigertot"It is easy to get on Deacon's back after tonight, he was absolutley shocking, even by his own low standards. How anyone can say he is usually good is beyond me. Jeffires is also getting his usual slagging elsewhere. I thought Jeffries was easily the best Bulls back, his kickng is very poor, admittedly. He ran his blood to water. He was responsible for both Bulls tries, on the first getting involved 3 times down Deacon's side of the pitch. He was also cruelly denied by the ref when Menzies (who I was disappointed in) broke through. I can only think of Deacon taking on the line once, Jeffries countless times. Deacon seemed fearless in defence yet terrified of attacking, like a man who knows his limits. He passes the ball along the line then stands back, Jeffries passes it then is immediately looking for the next option.'"
Well done Tigs for managing to string so many words together. Your sort of game eh ? I agree though when you say "It is easy to get on Deacon's back after tonight" - trouble is YOU make a hobby about of it
Move on Tigs & get a life !

| Quote harigeorgeson="harigeorgeson"I agree with most of that matey - except the fact that Deacs had a bad game
First of all - he played behind a rubbish set of forwards, second - he cannot be expected to carry the team EVERY week, & thirdly - learn how to spell Terrible
'"
You honestly think Deacon played well? Bradfords game is based around good field position, time after time the forwards worked hard to get in a good position only for Deacon to put in a terrible kick, don't think I saw one of his kicks bounce, every one went straight into the hands of a Wigan player. The only decent kicks were by Newton and Jeffries, at that point I think Deacon had realised it wasn't his day, he couldn't even kick to touch from a penalty. I noticed it, sky noticed it, all the fans noticed it except you, he had a shocker.

Why should I? I've suffered ME like abuse for pointing out the obvious for 8 or so years. I'm basking in Schadenfreude.

I thought putting Deacon to mark Hock was a master stroke by Banana.

| Deacon's finest hour was the 2003 run-in when Robbie and Leon were both crocked and we had no recognised six - Mike Forshaw filling in a lot.

| I'd be tempted to drop Deacon altogether for the Hull game. Move Jeffries to scrum half and use Menzies at stand off.

I dont think you actually remember what the start of this post thread was: -
Deacon was just awful tonight. Looks a pale imitation of the GB player he was a few seasons ago.
You didnt have a big pack on saturday night for your normal 17 and that is why I made the comment!?

Daecon played well for 60 minutes 6 years ago, I find that hard to believe.
