| Was he that bad? Whatever else he is, when he left Wigan he was a very good player, one of the best in SL

| Last year he was Ok and I hoped he'd kick on. this year he's had injuries and played in a poor team. Nonetheless he was supposed to be a star signing - the sort that can drag a team to victories. I don't think even on that basis he's the worst signing, but a relative failure nonetheless.
I do genuinely hope he regains his best form though.

| Build them up to knock them down. He was better than OK in his first year for me although his limitations were obvious. This year just a write-off with injury.

| Seem to remember a few seasons back Wane and the Wigan fans going OTT about his performance in super league and quite a few us mentioned he needs to prove himself in the NRL like other british players have done in the past. As a high profiled player to go down there he did look out of his depth for the majority of his NRL career, I don't think he will find it too easy back in Superleague either.

| He's been found out to a degree, but he'll still have many wide open spaces to exploit in Super League however.
He made the fatal error before he'd even gone over there. He signed for New Zealand Warriors, who for all their talent, are still an unprofessional outfit. The comparisons to Catalans are easy to make and their players just aren't committed enough to be a success.
It'll be interesting to see whether he remains at fullback for Wigan, or whether the move to 6 ever materialises.

| Will be interesting to see how he reacts to this. He left having built himself a reputation as a super star and is coming back with his tail between his legs. Can he pick up where he left off, or will he do a Stuart Fielden and be a complete bottler?

No doubt, before he went, he was excellent but I wonder what damage this may have done to his confidence; knowing that he just couldn't hack it over there and that there's a fair few respected ex-players who have absolutely bagged him as over rated.
He'll have to work very hard to lose the 'quitter' tag and is going to get a boat load of that from now on.

| Hard to argue with that list. Tomkins not the poorest player but when you add wages and transfer fee then he was a massive flop. For the same wages we have signed RTS.

| SAm will be fine once he comes back. Wigan will prioritise getting him into space and his broken field running and natural strength will see him score and create many tries. He'll drop a few high balls, but in the grand scheme of things, it won't matter much.

| at least we wont have to listen to Shaun Wane say
"I dont want to sound Big headed but I believe Sam is one of the top two players in the world right now, if not the best ... and I really mean that.... I dont mean to disrespect other players but.... blah blah "
Yeah shut up.... not even close to the top 5 full backs in Aus never mind top players......its what we all new.
But he gave it a go so fair play... he'll still be a top player over here but he'll kop some stick hopefully....
