I know most of the new signings aren't going to happen, but i think we need them.

Meli can do Centre

I take it you dont rate clough then?

Neither do the club, hence they only gave him a new contract as a thankyou for his hard work.

But yes i rate him very highly with the way he was playing before the GF

I'm hoping for a new centre and winger too but I think it's highly unlikely. Only one of those might be wishful thinking.

I can't see it happening next year but maybe in a couple of years Wello slotting into loose forward with Lomax going into full back in a Sam Tomkins type role?

No he can't, his defense in the centre is shocking.



Warrington took him apart in the first play off game when they went down his side and wigan scored 4 tries down his side in the grand final.



I've backed meli on here over the last few years but it's time get shut. We have to play him centre because he can't catch any sort of kick but then he can't tackle in the centre.



No point in keeping just to make up the numbers when he costs us so many games a season.

Lets just blame it on Meli then ? and ignore the fact the sliding defence didnt slide leaving 3v2 on several occasions ( in both the wire and wigan games )

I wasn't putting the blame on meli but he and lomax was shocking in defence on the left.

Another strike Centre would make a big difference with Meli on his outside. Meli looked alot better with a good player like Talau inside him who could hit hard in defence but also had a nack of scoring and creating opportunities.

I think we defo need a new centre and winger, we lack any threat outwide.



Jamie lyon would be nice, he was on fire in the last 6 weeks of the NRL.



I'd also like to see a good loose forward, a proper loose forward, not a 2nd row doing a job there but a real 13.



I think a new centre, winger and loose forward would make us the best team in super league next year.

I think we're living in a dream world to expect 3 quality signings in those positions. I'd be happy for a new Centre or new Winger. I think in Magennis we have a really good Loose forward prospect who I think will feature more next season. If Meli stays on for a year that solves the wing problem temporarily, which leaves a Centre. Wheeler maybe able to fill the void, but he's unreliable with injuries.



I honestly expect no further signings unfortunately, despite the need for an extra player in the backline.

I also can't see anymore signings.



With the players we have off contract at the end od 2011 i thought we'd try and bring a few quality players in.



If we do give meli and flannery new one year deals we will have nearly the whole team off contract at the end of 2011.

The only thing stopping new signings is the reduction in income we'll have at Widnes. We CANNOT be up to the cap as it is, even with a few kids getting contracts.
