I'm almost with you - I've heard snippets in the background at other people's behest, and it sounded to me like generic whiney pop dribble that gets the attention of those people who don't have any real appreciation for proper music.



I'm an avid 6 Music listener - when my daughter retunes to the car to Capital, I feel like self-harming.

My daughter is at Uni & has been asked to put her 3 favourite songs together to submit to some entertainments committee. She asked me for some suggestions, which is always a challenge. She agreed with me on 'Another Girl, Another Planet'. She also plumbed for Belle & Sebastian & Smiths as her own choices, which made me pretty proud.

I'll give him his due, he seems like a genuine lad, but that's where it ends for me, couple of decent songs to start with in his career ('A-Team' was decent, had an actual story to it), but since then it's been nothing but god-awful, made-for-radio cliched love songs, (i suppose commercial radio stations don't take kindly to songs referencing drugs). Completely ripped off 'Let's Get It On' for 'Thinking Out Loud' but because it was him nobody said anything.The two songs he released simultaneously recently, one was perfect for Capital, the other was Radio X fodder... so, he knows what he's doing. Or his team do. And his very latest song starts with the line 'Girl you're the one and you know that it's true'..... That alone is enough to smash the sh*t out of the wireless..

6 Music is good, i do like Radio X, but they have started playing Rag N Bone man and Ed Sheeran... so i've cooled off on that station. XS Manchester is my favourite by far at the minute

For anyone interested - this Friday is 1994 day on 6 Music; promises to be a heady mix of the sounds of my salad days - thank goodness for the iPlayer radio app!

I largely ignore the mainstream but it's hard when every outlet is ramming crap down your throat or trying to sell you something.

Pop trash

I couldn't name an Ed Sheran record either, and i could only name about three Oasis records. I'm a big 6music fan, usually i start listening from about 4pm till 10/11pm. Oasis are a band i can't stand. If they pop up on the radio or TV off it goes, like it does for anything Phil Collins is involved in. Also on my list Dance music, jazz, Aerosmith type music, acid house, handbag house, one monotonous beat house music.

Ed Sheeran, to be fair to him has a decent voice, his cover of make it rain by Foy Vance is fantastic, but he's just been overly commercialised.



I'm glad Rag n bone man is finally getting some success. He's been around years on the independent hip hop and soul scenes in the UK, and his album first major label album is a great gospel blues album

Adele be like; 'Got to let go of all of our ghosts, we ain't kids no more' but has warbled on about her ex's for 9 years / 3 albums.

Have a look at internet radios or just radio on your internet. Hundreds of thousands of free channels if you cannot be bothered to fork out for a subscription. Most types of music are catered for. No need to listen to Ed Sheeran.

I was at a mildly boozy bbq yesterday/last night and after about 25 minutes of some dross I said something like "who's this lot and can we have something decent?" Well, the housewives present and their 14 year-old daughters looked at me as if I'd just screamed "I love Donald Trump". Yes, it was Sheeran.



There's no doubt he's a talented guy, but unfortunately his music is dull as dishwater. Still couldn't name a song of his.
