It's not the Beatles music I hate or the fab four themselves. It's the pseudo intellectual bullcrap industry that has grown around them and mythologised them into so much more than they were. That and the over sentimentalised scouse hero worship.



I'm a big Stones fan so I am biased I admit but the one thing that really irks me is that IMHO from Satisfaction (65) through to Brown Sugar (71) Jaggers lyrics were way ahead of anything Lennon or McCartney managed. Yet he and many others barely get a mention due to the Beatles mafia shouting everyone else down.





PS: I'm fully aware that the Stones shamelessly exploit their back catalogue and have not had a decent LP since Some girls (76), a classic since Exile (70) or a decent single since Start me up (80) - but then none of the Beatles have done any better.

I think if you want bands being mythologised, then you can go no further than Guns And Roses and The Stone Roses, both of whom never produced more than an album worth of decent music, yet both are spoke about as some sort of God-like geniuses.



Certainly not bad bands, but their reputations certainly outstrip their actual talent and overall musical output.

On a similar note... The Specials. First album great, second album 'OK', third album should never have escaped the studio.

I think Muse are utterly terrible. Radiohead aren't much better but I can appreciate some of their stuff. I seem to be in a small minority here but Arcade Fire just do nothing for me either



Hate is a strong word though, it's just harmless crappy music.



I've seen Coldplay live and I thought they were brilliant. Their albums are pretty dull to me but I really enjoyed the concert and would see them again.

To be fair I think their latest single 'Doom and Gloom' is amongst their best work.



I forgot about Radiohead as well, can't sand them. I used o hate Muse and never understood what all the fuss was about until I saw them live, they really are a world class live band, and amazing musicians.



As I'm typing this I remebered that I can't stand anything Rod Stewart has done out of The Faces.

Can i nominate Westlife,Maroon 5 and Savage Garden?.

Anything from Pop Idol, X Factor.

Their later stuff maybe, but made some brilliant stuff in the 80s, give or take Stipes voice.
