When do the players get their squad numbers? I know numbers don't mean a lot and can be outside 1 - 25 but it will be interesting to see who gets numbers 4 and 9 and whether any are left vacant to be filled later?

I asked that very same question recently. You would think it was soon as they need to give out the training kits etc.

You mean no more signings this pre-season and the 25 will consist of existing players? GH says he is still after a quality player to replace Webb. What's the latest on the Joel Moon possible signing?

The side has to be strenghtened, we have lost three of last years team and only one player in. The side needs fresh blood. When does new strip come out.

Come on GH, put a note on the Website and tell us what is happening this term.



We want to know Squad, squad numbers, new kit, whats happening about Hunslet dual reg including who is going and who is not. Who is in and who is out etc.

The season finished a mere 23days ago.

True...but all the other teams have been making in roads on recruitment for next season while we seem to be stood still



While it was excellent winning the GF again know one can deny our squad needs strengthening judging by some of the poorer performances in the league



IMHO would be nice to win the league leaders shield this year to prove we are not just a GF side but we can be consistent aswell

Oh I think it's a wonderful habit of turning up at old Trafford like we do but I'd like to see us do just abit better during the season aswell stop all the crying and moaning from the other boards

the whining and moaning make it more enjoyable for me.

I think 3 key areas in how we do next season in the regular season....



Hardaker at FB, we know his quailities there but he hasn't got the same ability as Webb had (or a Hodgson at Wire) of being a creative play-making FB yet. Understandable given being swapped into the role mid-season so hopefully a pre-season knowing his position and working on it will see him add to his all-round game and see him becoming a provider of tries as well as a scorer of them.



McShane & Hood, we saw in the Playoffs how much better we play when we can bring on a more natural hooker so 1 of them need to step up now that Lunt has headed back to Hudds.



Watkins, get him the ball as much as possible.

Yup. So an area for Delaney to work on in the off-season.

England Knights members return to club training on the 19th November.

If GH intends making a big name signing surely it makes sense doing it asap to help season ticket sales;

I'm pretty sure that there's no big name signing.

THis happens almost every season. Mid-season everybody starts to sign up players for the next season. We see relatively little activity, but say, its ok Gary has something up his sleeve, wait until September when the tampering deadline has passed. Once it gets to september with no signings, we say, we'll be waiting until the season is over. Then it'll be wait until the internationals are over. Then its the week before the season ticket early bird renewal deadline. Then its boxing day. The in January we announce that we've promoted some younger players into the slots left behind, but have some space left on the cap for a big name signing, which never materialises.



Meanwhile the team keeps winning titles based on the model that GH has been running for over a decade of success. The moral of this story is that GH knows more about running a sucessful SL squad than probably anyone in the world. Certainly more than the people on here, with their projections of which players are up to it, and which are not. which players have potential to make it, and which ones are past it. Just enjoy the rugby, and the successes and failures, and leave the team building to the people who are paid to build teams.

I completely agree, I just wish that GH wouldn't fill us with hollow promises year after year.



I'd respect him even more if he just came out and said "We don't need any fancy Aussie players, we're just fine on our own thanks"... although that would mean an end to his all expenses paid trips to Australia every November.

It makes more sense not to pay over the odds just to bring someone in to appease fans. He could've easily got Lulia if he threw enough cash about but he'll of offered a sensible amount instead. Whilst its frustrating not seeing new signings I don't want someone signed just for the sake of it, he has to be the right player at the RIGHT PRICE. That's how other teams have got into trouble before, by taking chunks out of their salary caps on quick fix solutions.



Also I doubt that many fans decision on buying a new ST hangs solely on the possible signing of a new centre, or at least it shouldn't.
