| This weeks courier confirms Paul Mennell and Ben Kaye have been signed by Fax to play in the hooker role for next season.
They have also announced that Keith Holden has renewed his contract also.

| Pretty meh over Mennell, mainly because he isnt the type of hooker we are used to in the team but Kaye is a top signing. Im surprised that Fev have let him go and our defence in the middle of the park just got even better.
As is the norm fans from the teams they left will come on and say i dont rate so and so but with Kaye I highly doubt that will be the case.

| Benny's strengths and weaknesses are easy to quantify. He was generally a very popular player at Fev for a couple of reasons - his defence is top class, especially given he's not the biggest, and he is absolutely the most enthusiastic guy on the pitch you'll ever see - it's like having a fan on the pitch, he punches the air whenever anything goes his team's way and generally fires everyone up, in a positive way. I don't think even his biggest fan would say he presents much of a threat in attack - he'll make the odd break, but he isn't the quickest from acting half back, and his distribution is ok but no more. I loved what Benny brought to Fev but can also understand why we've let him go. How the Fax fans react will depend on what their expectations are I guess, his strengths are very much in the defence/enthusiasm area (Daryl Powell described him as a dream to coach in terms of attitude) rather than kickstarting attacking moves.

Don't think he was offered a new deal, don't think he features in Bastian's plans. Heard he was going 3 months or so ago.
Great defensive player and team man, be sad to see him leave.

| As above really....ben came through the Leeds system as a back rower but was converted to a hooking role in the academy. Not the most talented or skilful player but as enthusiastic as they come. defensively he is very good but attacking wise not anything close to a Penkywicz.
Fev have replaced him with Flanagan from Batley who will offer far more go forward and attacking threat. Halifax lost a lot when Penkywicz left and have still not replaced him with anyone in that class 2 seasons on.

| To enable us all to keep up with progress towards next season, can we have a 'Sticky' of new signings, re-signings and players still in contract for 2014?

Think all Fax fans would agree with this. Its worrying that even other clubs fans
know what we need compared to what we've got.

| It certainly seems that KH wishes to build a team very much like Fev, really tough to beat but very little flair and just built around getting on top of teams. Fev now look like they are wanting to move a touch away from this with their signings. All that is in stark contrast to Sheffield who have overtaken Fev as the best team in the league and have flair and quality in a abundance.
