Perhaps not the worst signing, but the biggest let down.
I know I'm going to get some stick but,
He cost £104000, we got him but could have had Chris Joynt,
He hid every game we played at Odsal, many others and never lived up to his price tag.
One game he could not come on as substitute because there wasn't a shirt to fit him.
He caused disruption in the team.
Daren't mention his name, but even Timmy Street saw him off.

No John it was Cawoods from Ull. Heworth's in Yarrrrk.
Longstaff reputedly signed at 17 year old for a £50 K contract and was a Javelin thrower who was working under Wilf Paish at the time. Wilf had done some sprint coaching with the 'Fax team around that time.
Longstaff's father Paul was a brilliant loose forward with HullKR & Rochdale as far as I can recall. Lovely bloke too. |
