| Quote Listenup94="Listenup94"Grix is looking it at a different angle from fans , he works with the players week in week out , he sees them in training, he as a direct insight into their attitude his default standard is hard work which springer wasn’t, he was roughly playing 20/30 mins per game and I’m surmising on top wages , I’d like to think that with springer, brearley, Hewitt and more than likely bourough out it ll free up some money to bolster the squad, it is mentioned we’re on the lookout.'"
This is the problem, the squad gets weaker as the season progresses.Bring in a couple now and we’re still two down and we weren’t good enough at the beginning...

| Quote Greg Florimos Boots="Greg Florimos Boots"Im not sure there has been a mention of spitting his dummy out rather a player that is not happy about not been selected. Id expect that from any player. I suspect its more a case of unhapiness towards the coach because he's playing to a different set of rules than some other players.'"
Yes totally agree that any player should not be happy about being left out. I was left out many times!
Rather than mouth off to the coach or sulk that player should work harder and force himself into consideration. No player is bigger than the team and if he thinks he is than has totally the wrong attitude.

| Quote Greg Florimos Boots="Greg Florimos Boots"It would be interesting to hear Grix's real thoughts on the matter. Grix signed Springer and most fans could see what type of player he is from watching him. Did Grix think he could change that? Maybe he came under pressure from people above paying a player who wasn't playing. The whole timing is out as we already look low on numbers which makes us suspect that someone is lined up.'"
...or we are happy to just plod through the season as nobody knows where the game is going?

So, so far we've 'plodded' our way to 3rd in the table!
I guess you'll never really know what has gone on but, as a leader, having a disgruntled employee in your team (no matter what you are doing) can very easily upset the balance and lead to poor performance all round. One bad apple and all that....
Better to prune out the dissent before it goes too far. For me this is a sign of a leader who understands his team and is not afraid of making the difficult decisions.

My point is more about the league as a whole rather than Fax's season. If perhaps there isn't going to be promotion/relegation this year saving money might be an option.

| I get what you're saying but saving money means poorer results, which will affect longer term fan base so may be counter productive. Plus anyone who has worked for an organization which is 'Cost Saving Driven' will know that is just as bad as having a bad apple in the barrel.

I totally agree with you. As you say SG has got us to third which, on our budget, could be seen as a success. Let's hope the winning run continues on Sunday. Up The Fax!

| I dont know were the idea that springer is a bad apple in the squad as come from if somebody on here is in the know then far enough you know more than me about what as gone on behind the scenes. But reading the comments from ian croad and simon grix there is no insinuation of springer having a bad attitude. From what i have been told grix was not happy with gadwins defence and he was being stubborn about the changes grix wanted him to make to that area of is game they came to a impasse on this and that was why the decision was made for him to leave.

This is exactly what I was told... Simon wasn't happy with Gadwin's work around the ruck/defence. And in fairness if you watch the highlights of when Gadwin played you can't really argue with it. I agree he was exciting going forward but did that offset the drawbacks... Suppose thats down to peoples opinions. But more importantly the only opinion that matters is the head coaches. He was our 'Marquee' signing so it will free some money up. Only concern is that there's no one available to sign in his replacement.

Hopefully Grix has learnt a lesson in that respect because he could probably have watched any of Springer's games for his previous clubs and come to the conclusion he wasn't the best in defence.

Maybe he believed he was able to coach him to become a better player in this aspect. Then again was it Simon's decision to sign Springer?
Ultimately as a fan I was excited when we signed Springer but i've not been blown away by his performances. We move on.

This is what I meant by 'Bad Apple'. Challenging authority is always tricky (especially if you're right!), and someone challenging the coach and openly disagreeing with him will affect the attitude within the team.
