Do our law enforcement agencies need to stop executing members of the general public?

At least there was a gun discovered, no surprises there!

Public he was , general he wasn't , until all the facts are known its pointless discussing it , but if you want to stir that is your perogative

Well one ' Fact ' is he wasn't a member of the general public , don't know about your world , but mine doesn't have violent drug dealing criminals walking around wily nily

Allegedly shot from within a police car. If he didn't actually have a gun in his hand makes you wonder. Perhaps he did though - clearly a bit nervous of something with all those CCTV cameras on his house.

EVERY town and city in the UK has violent drug dealing criminals walking around. All of them. No exceptions. If you don't realise that you're naive as hell.



Anyway, this was not an 'off-the-cuff' operation. It was well-planned and carried out in conjunction with others in the area. This type and scale of operation is not carried out without extensive surveillance and solid intelligence, and approval from above. They knew the targets would be armed, or they wouldn't have pulled an armed stop.



And while I have a degree of sympathy with the family, I have none for the deceased. The fewer of his type running around, the better. You gonna cry over a violent, armed, drug-dealing muppet? Or do you believe he was a good innocent boy like his daddy said? Gimme a break. Are you actually that naive?





A small insight into the Asian drug-dealing scene, I live very close to a large Pakistani area and we see it every day. There's an 'ice-cream' shop nearby. It's open all year round and is surprisingly popular with Pakistani lads of...oh...between 16 and 30 - rain, wind or shine. A fleet of powerful and expensive white Mercs/Audis sits outside and they all meet to enjoy, erm, perhaps a nice scoop of double choc with sprinkles. Every so often a taxi will pull up, the driver will pop in (those lads love their ice cream) before heading off with a 'delivery'.



I mention the cars because something common around Manchester is the Pakistani dealers are now driving white Mercedes and Audis. They're the 'in' cars for their scene, moving on from the Subarus and Evos they preferred a few years ago. Don't believe me? Have a drive around Cheetham Hill or Bury, and I imagine, Bradford or Huddersfield.



I also enjoyed a taxi ride a few years ago during which the Pakistani driver told me how he was being put under increasing pressure from said lads to deliver drugs. He was a father of 3 and wasn't interested, but gave me an insight into the sort of growing underworld in Northern cities. He was scared of where it might end. The drugs scene is simply enormous, and far more visible than it used to be.



Fun fact: he lives round the corner and was taking me home from the airport one night after a few very long and tiring days away with work. Ten minutes after he dropped me off he came round with a gorgeous home-cooked meal from his wife. "We thought you might enjoy this after your time away". Amazing. The food was bloody good too.

Your apparent naivety in insinuating me naive is rather amusing.

Then again, my suspicions that you'd be one of first defenders of the faith, riding in on your white steed, like a knight in shining armour, appear well founded.

Fact is, if the police shot an armed drug dealer as often as you said something so cringeworthy and ridiculous, society would be much cleaner.

The fact that it's become a nothing story on the news says a lot to me. Criminal past, gun in the car. I suspect the general public 'believe' in the 'proportionate' Police action in these cases and we just move on.

It was noticeable the funeral & protests weren't highly reported on. Good night 'stud fu*k bad boy' or whatever you called yourself, you wont be missed.



Well done West Yorkshire police. Maybe in future do it on a quiet road and don't impact on decent peoples commute.

It's because the Police did it and are automatically in the wrong. They are supposed to hit him on the arm with their trusted truncheon before he picks his gun up and shoots them.

If it had been a fellow criminal shooting him these do gooders wouldn't be commenting.

Two rather extreme viewpoints; all before any official verdict from the IPCC.



WIZEB made such a strong statement about this being an execution - I felt sure he must have some information that I'd yet to see. Having done a bit of research however, there is no such information in the public domain, so it's just his view.

The Police need to keep knocking 'them' over. Anyone with a gun used for criminal purposes needs to understand that at any point they could be a piece of lead heavier. The public or the Police should not be put a risk.

As I said - quite extreme views either in opposition or support of this action, without any actual facts about what happened. Interesting.

We know enough. The guy had a lengthy history of drugs, violence and intimidation. A pistol, bullets and suppressor were at his feet. His buddy has been charged.



And despite some the stupid claims in this thread, our police forces are anything but "trigger-happy". The tiny proportion of weapon discharges per armed police operation is staggering.



But for our precious snowflake Wizeb, let's not forget 'Armed Drug Dealer Lives Matter'.

You could always try a private prosecution or a citizens arrest:if you feel strongly about it.





They seem to have stopped 'executing ' them though.So now in a country short of money they can waste lots and lots of it on a court case and ensuring he gets free entertainment,food and drink and can have a riot when he feels like it,and sell and use lots of drugs.

The telling piece for me is just how little the press have made of it. When you think back to Duggan etc.



I think its good proportionate policing. I'm thankful to the police that this is dead and no longer a threat to me, the public in general or the Police.

Well, it does go to show that attitude and preconceptions affect our view.

I am not sure that ' he deserved it' has any merit in law.

I was not there and don't know the facts, along with everyone on here I assume, but I too was left with doubt based on the scant info I did get.



The man had a gun. The man was clearly a danger. Chances are in the extreme he could be shot and probably killed. He was killed.



A planned operation, hopefully the objective was to stop him and arrest him. If so, the outcome was not achieved, so an investigation will ensue.



Close-grouped shots through a windscreen show he was shot sitting bolt upright in the drivers seat.

So not ducking and diving then.

If he had the gun in his hand at that time in VIEW then he is a threat ... he could be toast ... he is a bit stupid or concerned that his life is at risk from some hoodlums in plain cars.

But these are plain clothes firearms officers who presumably let him know otherwise and advise him on how to give himself up.

They are calm, they are trained, not trigger-happy in any regard.



What I find let's the police down is the vague politician talk that is dripped out.

But where?

It bloody matters.

It had better have been near the driver, because if it's found in the boot it ain't good.



Hopefully the investigation will help get at the truth.



If one buys into the 'an officer felt threatened so shot' type of 'evidence' as an investigator, then lessons may well not be learned.

All I would hope for is that lessons are learned.



The police record is excellent, but not always crystal clear.

Should law enforcements stop killing people? I'm not really aware of that many incidents in the U.K. In recent times but in the USA, for sure. My "favourite" one was the execution of a deaf man who was reaching for a card to show the police officers he was deaf. Pumped about 20 bullets into him. Probably received a medal for it too
