Jai Field has been voted February’s Player of the Month following his exceptional start to the 2022 season.
The Wigan Warriors full back endured a tough start to life at the Warriors – his debut lasted less than 20 minutes after sustaining a hamstring injury, forcing him on the side lines for the majority of last year.
He returned to the Warriors squad in emphatic fashion and has been a standout figure in Betfred Super League so far this season.
With voting based on Rounds One to Three, Field was overwhelmingly chosen as February’s Player of the Month thanks to his influential performances during the opening three rounds.
He made an eye-catching start to the new campaign with a Player of the Match display away at Hull KR in Round One, quickly putting the horrors of 2021 behind him with an effervescent and flamboyant attacking display. He repeated that feat in Round Two against Leeds Rhinos, scoring a memorable hat-trick on his return to the DW Stadium.
Field ended the opening month with five try contributions and over 500 run metres, leaving an immediate mark on the competition, as well as the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel leaderboard.
On winning the inaugural 2022 Player of the Month award, Field said: "It's pleasing to win this award. Rugby League is a team sport though and credit must go to my teammates too. I am loving playing in this team and we have had a good start to the season. I'm looking forward to what's to come in the next few weeks."
Field and his Wigan Warriors side host Castleford Tigers in Round Six of Betfred Super League tonight, live on Sky Sports.
