I would say this side is the most mentally weak squad I have ever seen, one crumb of adversity and this side seemingly gives up. Zero effort, zero pride in the shirt.
During the many times behind the sticks last night, waiting for Martin to slot over yet another penalty/conversion, I didnt see a single player, nor member of staff take responsibility and leadership to give the players a well deserved spraying, that includes Gareth Ellis, who, as was in his previous stint, have no idea what he is actually there for?
I know Derek runs his mouth, and he is a pain, but ultimately he is right. We will finish bottom, and we should be relegated.
Completely agree except for the final sentence. You can't change the goal posts once the game has started let alone at the end of the season teams know the play off format and when they have to peak and where they need to finish, and they also know whether there is or isn't relegation and perhaps play to that too. For some reason investment in playing staff wise we have thrown the towel in this year but IMG set the criteria and all the owners agreed to it. Financially teams like Castleford weren't that bothered as a club about winning this season when compared with the money and effort they have put in to improve their stadium facilities etc to stay in Super League, you cant't suddenly change that and put the criteria back to a traditional league set up.
It is what it is thankfully we benefit from it this season and should the goal posts be altered now and Beaumont get his way we would have a big case in the high court to challenge that change. The fun will begin from those who miss out, when the IMG rulings for next seasons competition make up are announced. So as far as your final comment is concerned I agree we deserve to be relegated, wholeheartedly, despite the fact that relegation would see the end of the club. But by the rules set out when the season started, that all 12 clubs have played to, we shouldn't be relegated.

We deserve relegating, in a way it would do the club some good, give them a chance to completely reset like Wakefield and Rovers did. Clear out the crap all in one go and build from the ground up, a year in the championship would also do absolute wonders for most of the young players.

A lot of the best youngsters would be cherry picked by the Super League Clubs, if FC were relegated....... Not sure if that is the point that you were making, in that it would be good for them?

Not if we could convince them to stay and build around them, it would be good in the sense that they'll be playing together at a level higher than reserves but lower than super league where theyre just getting hammered every week which is currently doing more harm than good, where they'd have a bit more time but still playing against grown men.
It won't happen anyway as IMG has allowed the club just to sack off the season and take the pi$$ out of the fans along the way.
If we got relegated, we'd lose the players we're trying to build around, Charles, Martin, Barron etc and just end up with the players no other super league team wants to pick from us in Fash, Lane, Briscoe, Chamberlain, Smith, Tindall and the like, we'd struggle the lower attendances and lack of sky money, it'd be a complete disaster

relegation re-energises the club as a whole, forget the playing outfit, the fans, backroom everything gets a blow torch put on it and it goes one of two ways, for us it was a god send, but when it happened i wanted to never watch a ball being thrown again
players will be loyal if theres a buy in, our buy in was a push back for promotion and a genuine turnaround
The half hearted tackling last night was back to the beginning of the season stuff. Professional rugby players tackling like school boys. You can’t put this all down to Grix Even gaz Ellis is involved with the coaching. There’s no professional pride in their own performance. Even the coaches son with that late hit. He’s banned for the last 2 games. No pride no discipline.

And I’ve just opened my letter from the club saying thankyou for my fantastic support and not to worry because my rolling subscription will carry on but it’s gone up by a tenner
