Penultimate home game of the season assuming we don’t go into total meltdown. Think this could be a good game. They are obviously the stronger side but we are playing decently. If we avoid early mistakes and take our chances this could be a close game. Here’s hoping.

2 very big "IFs" in there BT, avoiding early mistakes & take our chances. Fingers crossed both ifs come about & we get a result. Would also be nice if the Hull fans are proved right & Wigan do stick 70 points on them.

In the voice of Kyle Amor- ‘sure is’. My feeling is our points difference is so woeful we will finish bottom. We put out a championship side and that is the consequence. The team and Eccles have done really well to reach the level in recent weeks. The team’s reward is the offer of £10 a game if selected or a one way ticket to some northern hotspot. Well done to all concerned. A real mess.

Potentially a single tackle from finishing 11th?

I think we lost at Hull when they scored the last minute try on the final tackle. A victory that day and we'd be two wins clear. Whether all subsequent results would have remained the same is pure conjecture of course.

And then there was Meadows assault on (Natoli?) with the attempted match winning drop kick against Leeds. That one as well and we would have all but mathematically tied up 11th place. Even breathing down the necks of Castleford.

More ifs and buts though.

Ifs & buts are in competition for player of the year I believe.

I'm amazed Cake can still find things to smile about.

I thought we were decent against today. Panicked at points with the ball but matched them physically.

I thought we were very good against a Leigh side with a number of really good players and really big units in the middle. Kennedy and Lovell were excellent I thought. O Brien’s kicking kept them in it and Hardaker’s inconsistent kicking from the tee stopped them from getting away from us. Only last 10 minutes were disappointing as we tired and their quality shone through. The stupid short drop out with one minute to go led to an inevitable try for them from one of their big units battling through our exhausted defence. I can only assume that Leyland thought if things went right we’d score a quick 14 points and tie the game but I have no idea how that could have happened and we end up losing by a 20 point blow out when the game was closer than that.

I have no idea why anyone tries a short drop out. It never works.

Thought the score line flattered Leigh.
For 65-70 minutes I thought we matched them, just ran out of steam and they took advantage.
Particularly impressed with Lovell, Kennedy ( especially a couple of his hits on Hardaker!) and Bienek.
If we’d managed to get one or two of those efforts down in the left corner……

I was a bit surprised when Kershaw got free (did he do it once or twice can’t remember) and he clearly didnt think he had the toe to get to the line cut back in and chance faded. He works very hard and is a good honest player but that was a little disappoint8mg- maybe carry8ng a knock. On that point looks like Walker’s season might be done but, one I know regulars on forum will be pleased to hear, Meadows may be back for last couple of games.
