But it isn’t SL and the squad will be different in SL. The time to worry and discuss that is when we are in SL.
No it doesn’t. I think that should be the foundation before you look to introduce expansive plays. First and foremost the middles must dominate by getting quick plays and good post contact metres. This makes defences condense more and relax the edges in parts which can then be exposed.
It’s not the only thing in our locker at all but it’s an area that has slipped in effectiveness without Rodwell (or a fit Rodwell) and Atoni. In some areas Bowden.
We did employ the wrong tactics vs Toulouse and got bitten but for the most part this season we have got it right going central and direct with the forwards we have.
I have confidence in the coaching set up to build on the foundations of our forward play with some expansive and different attacking plays that can break teams down outside of using the middles.
It’s not that we only have the forwards down the middle and bullying opposition forwards as the only tactic but we need to build on that and find a more effective method when we are struggling for impact in the middle.
Fev actually have a big set of middles this weekend and actually it’s probably the strongest part of their squad.
I’m not going to go into full blown meltdown and start picking the squad to pieces after one poor performance. There’s no need at this stage and I trust the coaches and players will address it.
