Obviously the 3 injuries on Saturday could have a serious impact on the season; I know its early days but have so far only heard that Calcott has had surgery on his knee but no indication about timescales for a return, although it will presumably be fairly long term. From Finns last comments would sound as though Douglas may be fit for Dewsbury in 3 weeks, would be good to know if either of the other 2 have a chance for then, or if not what if any plans for temporary replacements. Living out in the sticks this forum is often best way of me keeping up to date
This is the problem with going with such a skinny squad and we have hit worst case scenario before the season has even started proper. I know its never nice getting long term injuries but to lose our only recognised centre, our best prop, and the best 9 in the competition all in one game is nothing short of a disaster. The hope is that barring Acorn springing one of the biggest sporting surprises ever, that we can get a good ties in the cup which could bring in enough money to make a signing or two.

Aye, before the HHH game, i said the most important thing besides the result was to steer clear of injuries. We get three/four, terrible luck. It would be good for the club to give the supporters some information about these sort of things though, wouldn’t it.
Hear All, See All, Say Nowt. Eat All, Sup All, Pay Nowt. And if Tha ever does Owt for Nowt, Allus do it for Thissen.
Update in the courier, nothing specific on Calcott, but obviously sounds serious, and wouldn't be surprised to see him out for the season. Says Crooks has "significant" ankle ligament damage, again no timescales- Doro at the Bulls just had similar diagnosis with forecast 8 week recovery. No mention of O'brien- can only hope his injury isn't as serious as feared. Still fairly disastrous and as has been mentioned above a couple of quality long term loan deals needed.
Crooks broken foot, in boot for 4 weeks and recovery time 9 to10 weeks
O'brien, waiting operation on Bicep and recovery time 12 weeks.
On positive side. Douglas back in contact training tonight, aiming for first league game
Absolute disaster - 3 of our most influential players gone before the season starts, combined with the transfers of Moore and Murray - Finn must wonder what's coming next. Douglas back helps, but definitely need a quality hooker and centre on loan if we're to be competitive. Absolutely lousy luck, in the first sesson we've taken a gamble of running with a really thin squad.
I would not be surprised to see Joufrett and Inman share the hooking role with Keyes and Widdop as halves.
Centres will just be Tibbs and McComb.
As for props that’s anyone’s guess, Rhinos player or another from the loan market somewhere? But Douglas will have to hit the ground running, literally when he’s fit. I do fancy him to be fresh and ready for the battle
