Can only assume my parents knew those on the turnstiles or those working on the turnstiles were not bothered if we paid or not, used to just climb over the turnstile when we got there, did that for probably 10 years or so.
We used to always stand behind the sticks, there was a lot of us (my family) and it seemed to be as if everyone around us knew we always stood there as there was always a space there when we got to the ground and we literally used to leave the house at 5 to 3 for a 3 o'clock kick off.
The younger ones of used used to sit on the wall at the front of the stand with our legs dangling over to the pitch side, nobody ever bothered for years then they started to come round and got you to put your legs on the inside but it was awkward sitting like that so stood up in the end.
Also remember we used to run onto the pitch at the end of the game and ask the players for their 'tie ups', they used to use string to keep their socks up, collected all the greats over the years, but sadly not got any anymore as they were just bits of string, oh the memories of the early days.
