I agree thats the problem.Decided to write off the season and give Smith the chance to rebuild for 2024 but he has misjudged the difficulty of attracting quality players whilst on a strict budget.

Before the season started my concern was that we were weak in the back row. Savellio is injury prone. Griffin wasn't even a back rower before this season. Cator had spent so much time out injured.
We then decide to release Griffin when he was our best performer in the back row. Absolutely zero ambition from the club to strengthen that area in a full year. You either want to attempt to succeed or not. Our club opted for the latter.
Huge strides need to be made next season or we're gonna be in the relegation battle because this season hasn't been much of a competitive league compared with other seasons. Leeds, Warrington, Huddersfield and Castleford have all been poor. St Helens have had their poorest season for years and Wigan have been up and down. Catalans have been the most consistent and they aren't anything special.
